Traffic Trouble

Hello and Happy New Year folks.

I inquired a while back about the problem with floating cars and got a few responses on using invisible road under no-traffic roads and lowering the invisible roads ect. Now, I have learned how to make my own regions, or at least edit default ones to contain my own traffic, and I as wondering if there is a way to edit roads or the vehicles to place them lower so they cars touch the road and do not float. It seems there must be a way considerng everything else you can edit. So if anyone has a clue, I would greatly appreciate some info. Also, I have created regions by editing the default ones. I need to know how to go about uploading them and how does one get permission since the vehicles were created by other people. I have made a 1940's or 50's post war USA, a modern USA, and a 1920's or 30's USA with a nice variety of vehicles including cars and trucks that may be useful to others.

I don't think that there is anyway to fix the car issue, though it looked like it might have been fixed in 09, I will have to get back to you on that.

To get permission, you should go into the cars config file and see what the license says, and you should also email, or PM the creators. I, for one, would be very interested in some traffic regions, such as the 50s and 60s USA

The height of the cars above the ground is set in gmax for each car by that car's creator. There is no way to edit the height unless the original creator changes it. The problem is that there are no standards either. Everyone's roads are at different heights. You can change a road's height above the ground in the config, but if you do it will no longer connect to all the other roads that have their spline points at z=0, or other standards such as Auran's original built in roads. The system is a mess. Maybe in TRS2009 we can set some standards but I wouldn't hold your breath waiting.

You don't really need to ask permission to publish a region that references someone else's carz, as you aren't actually uploading them, merely referencing them in the same way you would when you upload a route. A word of thanks in the description filed of the config file would be nice though.

As for the height issue, use roads which have the grounded tag at 0.4 (the newer set by mgreen48 or andi06 are a good start), and select your vehicles for the region by trial and error. If the base of the car is on the GMax origin (more are than not), they should sit about right.

Thanks peoples. I don't have the time now, but I will make an atempt to learn how to upload some regions. When I can get everything to work right I really have enjoyed starting to tinker with things. My computer is taxed heavily by TRS06 but I'm hooked.
