hi guys

ok ive tried downloading lots of different tracks, some of them look nice & very real....until i try to make a turnout!

it either clips alot or the sleepers just over lap one another totally spoiling the look!?

is there a way around this or?

or is there some good looking/realistic looking track that has fixed joints maybe :s ?

thanks in advance :)

I'm certainly not going to be able to give a definitive answer with my meager experience, but what I have found is that there does not seem to be a track style that will give what you ask when you create a turnout with it...the sleepers will overlap on all of them.

As for a different solution, there are a few fixed track turnouts in the objects portion of the menu-fixed track items are usually prefixed with FT. Those will change track style just like industry tracks when you connect to them.

Their main drawback is you are stuck with whatever style lever the designer has chosen to use. There may be a way to edit their files to change the lever, but that is something that is beyond my expertise and experience.

MP Wood v2 is an excellent non-kinking track to learn with. Some other great looking tracks kink like all get out

Get to know this track spline point "overlaping Figure 8" pattern ... it is indespensible ... as is the Hold/Don't Hold "Shift" key (stops tracks from joining like magnets).

This is how I lay PRR 4m 13.5' track c/c spacing ... others prefer 5m or 6m c/c track spacing where track spline points just touch each other, and do not overlap.

Zooming in, looking straight down from above, or looking in on a slight angle, or from heavy angle FOV, you can tug and pull on track spline points and manipulate the track ties to a fine tuned location, where the ties stop overlaping.

From the outside of a track spline point ... count out 3 ties ... then place another spline point ... and you will get an overlaping Figure 8 pattern.

Sometimes ties overlap, and in real life too ... I try not to pet the sweaty things ... I mean sweat the petty things.

Practice!

Decent looking spline track turnouts with sleepers properly aligned is possible..

..you just need to get the vertexes in the right place :)
