Track & road crossing

I am running Train Simulator WBE and designing my own route. I have not been able to get signal gates on railroad crossings. I have taken out both the track & road where they both intersect and the crossing gates do not appear. What am I doing wrong!!!

Hi Bruce, welcome to the forums :wave:

I am not quite sure what you are asking sorry but when I started out if I wanted to see how something was done I looked at the built in routes in surveyor to see how various parts of it were constructed. I then used this information to re-create what I was interested in for my own routes

Thanks for responding so quickly! I have put track & roads down on my railroad and where they intersect I don't see any crossing gates or flashing lights warning the cars of an approaching train. What am I doing wrong? I have removed both the track & road and put them back in again and still no crossing gate or warning lights.

That is a good idea on going into the routes already established to see what someone else did.

Thanks for your help, let me know if you have any other ideas.

What you need to do is place a crossing at the point where you want one to be and then connect the rails and road to it. The crossings do not create themselves just because you have taken a road across a track.

Give me a couple of minutes and I will post a screen shot to explain more.

Okay,

I first placed my crossing by chosing what I wanted in the 'Objects' tab. I then run my track up to the track spline attachment points and connect the tracks to the crossing and then do the same with the road and attach that to the road attachment spline points. In the picture posted I have not taken the track and roads all the way up to the crossing to try to give a clearer picture of what to do

Also check out ATLS by Boat and Adrian19. They have assets that you can make your own crossings.

Remember that you can not use double track to connect to crossings - only single track can be used.

Just a thought, not all crossings have lights and gates. These are available as a seperate item that you need to place in the location you desire adjacent to the crossing. Other crossings, such as Davido's superb NSW 1 & 2 track level crossings come with the whole thing ready to go.

Keep in mind though as said earlier above, that even with a double track crossing you can only connect a single track on each side of the crossing. This (and other reasons)is why most people don't bother with double track and just prefer to lay two lengths of single track. Besides, it looks better.
