Track jointing

Hi again,
I seem to be making hard work of jointing track and crossings.
Still working on the ECML using 2010ee Surveyor.
I am picking 'auran track ts2009 oak' but the Move Track button will not select and hold it.
It is a 'dual carriageway' but I am connecting individualy.
No doubt using the wrong method, could you point me in the right direction?

Much googling found the answer, 'make sure there are no vehicles on it'.
The route test loco will have to be deleted then added after the repair.
