Track Experiment

For US Track, it looks good, but the most important factor for me is how it affects framerates.

What I look for, is track that is visually realistic, but allows my pretty average computer to run at normal frame rates without too much stutter. For me, UK Bullhead is about the best for UK operation, if yours performs as well as that, it may very well be a favourite for US trackwork!

Hope that helps you!

sterrett & Ronayne,

I got the idea from norfolksouthern37, so you can thank him. However, his system was a custom (High poly?) system. I decided to use a lower poly idea. In those screenshots, I had no problems with Frame rates. (Except those RRMods SW1200s kicked my computer to load and the FPS went down.) The track hardly affects the frame rate. The only FPS problem I could see is a whole 10 track classification yard with low ballast profile, but I try to keep it at a minimum or maximum profile. What you saw in the shots is what the high profile looks like.

Also, I forgot to say, could you offer any tips/comments for the grass texturing? I was also experimenting with that. You notice how the sun makes real Trainz shades and highlights on contouring landscape? I took Boat's AJS textures with multiple brightnesses and tried to match it.

I hope to make a regular (4-6 baseboard) route in a town using this track experiment. I was going to continue with the route pictured, but it was a brand new route, and I forgot to save so it was deleted. :o

Cheers,
Joshua
