Track became a road

Get over it
After switching from XP to Win 7, old computer to new, I'm getting those famous random splines zig zaging across my routes. Track splines, fence splines, etc. I'm able to correct them but now I've met my match. In several areas some tracks have turned into roads. I'm not new at this so I've tried everything that I know and I cannot get rid of it. The kuid is -1:9100614 = road 2l no carz 02 and the item doesn't even show in the menu list. The road is not attached to any object and I can attach an invisible road to it. When I delete the invisible road the offending road disappears for a second but returns. I cannot move it via the spline points. I've done a quick data base repair so now I need some suggestions as to how to get rid of it. Thanks.

Try an EDR, all a QDR does as far as I can tell is tidy up deletions and additions, it doesn't appear to fix many if any problems.

Ok, I did an EDR and no change. Sure would like to get rid of that road. Fooled around with layers and no luck. What the h--- is it? Not a spline, truck or object. I can't move it or delete it.

It's strange, but it might be possible that for whatever reason that road has actually changed to track (hence why it shows that track attached to it) -I had this exact same problem when I imported a route I made in 04 into 2010 - one particular platform spline I could not delete for no apparent reason, and worse, had disappeared from the scenery spline list where it used to be.

I eventually found where it had disappeared to - it was now listed in track splines for some bizarre reason! At least I was able to then delete it - all I can think of is it's config file must have had a bug in it that only became active when it was copied into 2010. Doesn't make much difference being listed under Track really - I just have to make sure no tracks connect to it accidentally though! :p

But yeah, check your Track Spline tab - even though it's appearing as a road to the eye, as far as the program is concerned it might be a track spline.

If that doesn't work, try to create a second route layer, named whatever and then merge it into the main route layer. This has fixed a few problems I've had.

Many roads are kind "track"
But that wouldn't change the image. Somehow a road asset has been used in lieu of rail.
Can you identify the kuid of the offending object and show us the asset's config file.

I have it identified as 'road 2l no carz 02', kuid:-1:9100614. It's labeled as a road bridge. You can check out the config file yourself using 3.6. As I stated above I cannot move the spline points, delete it as an object but I can attach some other splines to it. There are no other items that it could be attached to. You can see it but can't do anything about it. I've moved the building away from the track, deleted the MIN that was inside the building, deleted all the track in the area and I still can't get rid of it.

Train:Screw the rails! I'm going off road!
Everyone else:NOOO!!
(I love making invisible tracks on roads and stuff, it makes Trainz much more fun :3)

Maybe you've tried this? Try deleting as track. Might be worthwhile trying to delete it as an object. I had a similar problem way back in TRS2006 what looked like parts of the other trackwork had turned into an object. I couldn't move or delete or add track. Went into Objects and clicked "Get Object" showed as a Ben Dorsey road bridge. So deleted them that way. Just one of the odd things that happen in Trainz.
Maybe it could be deleted with the Copy and Paste by picking a bare section of route and copying that then pasting over the road area?

Just to add another complication Road 2L No Carz 02,<kuid:-1:9100614> shows as a version Road 2L No Carz 02,<kuid:-25:769> (a built in asset), both of theses are "Auran" assets.

For me <kuid:-1:9100614> shows (in TS12 SP1) as being obsolete and on the DLS, <kuid:-1:9100614> is a built in. Both are build version 2.4.

I can't think of a solution to your issue but thought I would mention the above as it might give a clue as to what the problem is.

Chris

@ falcon500 - yes I've tried just about everything I can think of with no solution

@ Chris - I haven't installed SP1 yet, I'm waiting for the hot patch. In TRS12 the kuid appears in 3.6 as being built-in. In the game itself it does not appear in any menus. Not in objects, tracks, spline objects, trackside, etc. It's in 3.6 but does not appear in the game except to bug me. You can't delete something that isn't there. Would anyone know why it would be listed in 3.6 but not show up in game? Can I do something in the config file to make it go away?

Thanks everyone for responding.

Have you looked at dependant assets for it from the right click on it in CMP or tried a disable of the asset? Just Checked the first part and found a lot of dependant assets in 2010 but 2010 does not show that asset in game either only CMP.

Just a though but it may be worth a look to see if <kuid:-25:769> appears in the in game list or CM dependencies, since the two are related maybe doing something with <kuid:-25:769> will help.

Again, thanks everyone for responding. Tried all the suggestions with no luck. I did find a work around. In the config file it was listed as trainz build 2.4 so I changed it to 2.9 and now what I see are the dashed lines of a track. Still can't get rid of it but I placed some track over it and everything appears to be working. I also found another section of road attached to a grade crossing. A different road, LP road concrete w/centerline, but after deleting the grade crossing it disappeared. I have a feeling that I'm going to find more as I search the route. Will keep everyone posted. Thanks.

not funny at all!
when you get the dashed lines the only thing you can do is delete each segment and insert track again. it smells like the spline bug coming all the way from 2004 but gettinge meaner each version.
no its not from changing XP to win7 haha no way it is just you're the lucky one welcome to the spline beetle club.
Let me know the progress if i find a way for you i let you know. I have a lot of experience with those kind of bugs only the users seem to be aware of not the developers in their trainz dungeon.
waiting for hotfix is not solving it as this is not solving any of these long waited for fixes.

~snip~ it smells like the spline bug coming all the way from 2004 ~snip~

I’m curious Roy. Forgive me for asking, but what “spline bug”?

I've hammered TRS2004 for hours each day over the past five years and have never seen it.

I can only guess that it was in a later version, or was solved and fixed in one of the four service packs which eventually secured the enduring stability of '04. If so, luckily for me, they were incorporated before I got my last edition (version 2370) copy.

Casper

Finally Casper,

i looked for this thread and no way the search engine always showed other stuff on the forum now i see this thread again to answer you my friend.

You are just lucky or don't know your splines are infected and not see it yet.
Yes 100% sure TRS2004 has the spline bug probably from the very beginning.

Try use Ctrl Z after smooth i explained this in verious threads of mine and other fellow trainzers and see to my relief more people coming out of their dungeon and share the problem.

Read my threads on SP1 and hope you will be still ok with your version really.

Curious and for sure if you use a lot of spline based objects see if they have white i.o. yellow circles at the end of the splines they are disconnected or have a different height....sort of.

Have a nice sunday Casper, you too Harry...

Thanks Roy but there's not a lot of Trainz playing right now, just a lot of fixing. Will get it done eventually and then it's play time.
