To be honest I feel somewhat betrayed by Auran. I bought Trainz 2009 in goodfaith at the beginning.I have invested in the 1st class ticket ever since the release of Trainz 2006. What upsets me the most is Auran's lack of appreciation for its Trainz 2009 customers. Trainz 2009 had not been out a full year and they release Trainz 2010. The download station advertises that routes are and content are being downloaded for this SP4. Some really nice material I would like to have. Its just that I didn't even get to really experience TS2009 before 2010 was released. Now the only thing released on the DS is material for the sp4/2010. It would have been nice if TS2009 could have been updated enough to play 2009 sp4/2010 My copy of TS2009 is patched clear up to and including SP3. I am very unhappy that there has not been a patch to allow content of sp4 to operate. Because of this I most likely will not be a trainz fan any longer and I refuse to buy TS2010 because I'm fearful that 2010 will follow the same development route as TS2009:(

G'Day therabbit, I actually prefer TS09 to TS10 apart from the alpha problems in native mode and would hope that this issue would be addressed in SP4 but if N3V keep to there apparent track record maybe they have already abandoned TS09 users. I know that if they do not fix TS09 I will not buy another version of Trainz as this seems to be their way all the way along.
Will we get SP4 and will it fix the alpha problems in native mode???

Regards
Barrie

I hope the wait was worth while but if it fixes Ts09 then maybe it will restore some faith.

Hi Everybody.
I have just one comment in this argument and that is Auran/N3V are a commercial company being run on commercial grounds. Therefore the management have a duty to their shareholders or owners to produce the maximum profit from their operations.

The management will stand or fall by their decisions with their employment being sustained or terminated based on their success or failure. Therefore what is at stake for them is far higher than anyone posting on this forum especially in the current worldwide economic climate. That said, the decisions have been made the policy enacted, so it is either that you buy a FCT or a supported version of Trainz and that to me is the end of the argument.

As a postscript if anybody thinks that perhaps Railworks would be a better option then I suggest they read my latest postings on this forum under "Am I a Traitor" to see how much it has cost me to get Railworks up and running. They then might feel that Auran and Trainz is not such a bad option after all.

G'Day All, Well I got straight to work and downloaded the SP4. I have installed it, which took just over an hour on my PC. I have since run one of the routes in native mode which seemed to be most affected by the alpha issue and I must say……..Well done, it is fixed and looks great.:udrool::mop: This was only a short run but I hope everything else addressed in SP4 is as well done as this one issue.:)

Having just re-installed my version of TS2010, and taken 30 hours to download a route, install all the dependent assets, endeavoured to repair them so that they show up in the game, this has now failed miserably. Every one of my Payware locomotives (British and American) need repairs to them all to get them to show up, faffing around with native and compatability modes has sent me round the bend, and to cap it all I thought, oh well, if the older stuff won't work I'll have a look at the new content that has been created in this version on the DLS. What the hell, there ISN'T anything new in TS2010, 3 reskins of the default HST power cars and 2 motorised vehicles in the locomotives section, and only 11 items in the rolling stock category, and they're mostly default reskins as well.
So, where IS all the new content that's been built for this version, have NV3 taken it all off the DLS over this weekend to tease me ??
I bought my game on the 9th December 2009, and this is all that you've got to show for it in 12 bloody months, what a joke.....

And you bang on at me about how much Payware content there is in Railworks, and yet, having revisited some of my old Trainz haunts, the Romanians and Russians, have amended their websites to hold Payware content now, to name but two websites, well, at least there IS content in RW2 for us to play with, hundreds of brand new locomotives and wagons less than 12 months old, which is a lot more than can be said about TS2010.

I don't know whether to laugh, or, cry, at you lot.

Cheerio.

Soon to be ex-ex-railwayman by the sounds of it.

This is your second time of posting this, so I suppose you want a response

> I searched the DLS for 2009/10 locomotives and I got 407 results.

For UK steam locos TC3 is the interesting version. There have been a number of corrections done to locos to bring them up to error free TS2010 standard but they have in the main been set to version TC3 rather than TS2010 which is the lowest version number that supports the new steam stuff. For example have a look on the DLS under Skipper 1945 there are some very reasonable ones there.

Jumped the Track--so to speak

When I wrote the original post I was unaware that the new patch existed and I appologize if I sounded like a whiner(crybaby) At any rate I am in the process of downloading the new patch (hopfully gives me a little more faith in Auran/NV3) and I hope that it gives everybody what they are looking for.:)

Hello John,

Yes, I noticed these changes, however, personally speaking, I've been playing with all of these locomotives since TRS2004 days, and archived them to play with in TRS2007, etc, so, I don't need them again for my Trainz Classics 3 version, however, of course, for any newbies coming along they will be handy to operate in most versions. Indeed, the Class 31 by rumour3 is the default loco in TS2010, so, Auran have had some mileage out of it over the years, along with the Class 37 by Pikkabird.

My point being that there are no NEW locomotives being built, if folks want to carry on driving original engines built in 2003-4-5-6-7, that have now been reskinned numerous times, then let them, but, I want new British locomotives when I spend $60 AUD on TS2010, to play on the brand new ECML route that was so beautifully built by the DPS guys, recycling the same TRS2004 stuff in current and future versions of this game has now got beyond a joke, and after purchasing this game on 9th December 2009, to find that NOTHING new has been created by any UK Trainzers in 12 months, is amazing, have they all abandoned creating new assets for the community.

You may have paid $60 but I don't get paid to create content. Most content creators don't either.

Ok - we get the point you don't like Trainz anymore. However please try to stick to facts rather than frothing at the mouth. I am a little surprised, I never had you down as a gimme-pig but it seems I was wrong.

I notice you have gone from saying there is nothing new in the last 12 months (untrue), to now there is nothing new for the UK (also untrue). If you can't or won't see, then I am not going to assist you any further. I imagine those who have spent any time updating or releasing new assets will be rather insulted by your attitude, I know I am.

I don't see you complaining about freeware reskins of default and payware RS/RW content on UKTS, quite the opposite in fact, which rather blows your cover.

So long.

Made me smile :)

I think, for the amateur creator - I do, but I don't make it public - 09/10 is much harder than previous versions ... Or maybe the expectations of what it is capable of displaying make it harder?

Anyway ... I only came on here to read what I thought would be 1000s of excited posts about next year's Multi-Player BETA ... where are they!? ;)

The process is much the same except that TS2010 can handle more polys and so can the newer hardware. Apart from that TS2010 offers better support for normal mapping and such and the level of what is acceptable is higher these days. Six years ago a box roughly the right shape would do for a coach these days there is an expectation that the doors will open at a station and it will have visible seats that the passenger load will be visible on from the outside. It can be done but it takes longer.
