TOPSIG iPortaling V3

I added the instructions to send out empties so that way the train orders could be reused over and over again and from session to session.

And it because some people load products into specialty cars that cant be reloaded on their route. For example, I load automobiles into auto racks and that's the only thing that gets loaded into auto racks. So when my loaded auto racks get unloaded, say at GN. Whats he then to do with them? He cant reload them with any thing. So a train order that says to ship empties out means that he can get rid of the auto racks with out cutting up his yards(s). And it means that I can reload more auto racks to ship out. Since I start out with a fixed number of my CSX auto racks. (I Put 100 in my session.)

And Id like to know who screwed up the formatting on the Produce consume document.
(EDIT: I fixed the formating, please do not change it.)

Now Bluewater, for the number of cars, I do just a random guess based on how many cars I can fit on that industry track.

Danny I agree completely with what you are saying... I don't see what the big deal is of skipping people..Through my experience in the rail industry if somebody is not ready... we skip that customer and move on to the next one... Im pretty sure UPS and FedEx do the same thing when you don't answer the door for you packages.. they end up just coming back the next day. I think the same idea can be applied in our situation. Another thing I have noticed Jib is that even with this consumer/produce chart is that there are 4 people who produce corn. I need 70 cars of corn, so does this mean I am going to get 70 cars from 4 people each? Or are you dispersing work evenly when you are creating this work order spread sheet An

As for empty cars remember they were to return by the same path they came after unloading but if they could be loaded then railroad would, why send the out empty beside it makes no revenue.

JIb it would be nice to have openings for extras (unplanned trains) and don't forget the varnish I know you want to :hehe:

I have plans for many more trains. But for the time being, if there is no scheduled train, then we run it as an extra. Where you send it to say GN, who then sends it to me, then I send it to who ever. As long as the train, which is running as an extra, makes it back to hits home road at some point.

I have some formatting suggestions for the produce/comsume spreadsheet, Jib. I think that all of the X's should be removed so that it is easier to find an entry that is actually usefull. It would be much faster to look just for P's or numerical values rather than having to sift through X's as well. My column and jcurran's column are both without the X's and I find that it is much easier to find what I'm looking for.

I do like that you have letters on one side and numerical entries on the other. I also like the color-coded bars for each commodity.

For those of you who asked and are wondering,

The first official session of the season is on July 13[SUP]th[/SUP].

I quit Iportaling for 2 good reasons. 1 most of the time the internet was out or my iportals were messed up. 2 just from the loss of interest. sorry i might try again longer down the road.

OK new iPortal consist is now on my Google drive space iPortalUPV2.cds. This is for the change of Jamesfaa moving to BNSF and Charles taking over UP. If you have the iPortalDGRW installed you can remove it and any Reo Grande equipment in that consist if you want to clean up your DB.

Hay Guys
I'm going to be busy with weekend so I wont be around much just letting everyone know Jib did you get the list I sent you for my Produce ?
I'm going to update my cars in the next few weeks and get them up to code becuse I need to change the loads and load count to work for my route anyone may use them if you find them easier to ship.
Ken is the consist working out or do you need me to make changes to it ?

Also I have this coming:

It will replace DVR unit.

I have not worked on yours and it is a little confusing, I sent you a PM but waiting to hear back.

And I like the X's. It dose two things. One, it tells me that you ignore that product. Yes a blank column dose the same thing. But having an X also tell's me that your paying attention to the chart..

Lets look at an example of what I mean. Lets say you produce Coal. And you consume Cake and Cars. But I lake the chart look some thing like this:

GN1996 Jib228
Coal |P |X
Cars | 5|P
Goods |X | 10

This shows that you have read every product on the list. But lets look at what it would look like with out the X's.

GN1996 Jib228
Coal |P |
Cars | 5|P
Goods | | 10

And here is where the problem pops up. Lets say I decide to add Cake to the list. Now the list, with out the X's looks like this:

GN1996 Jib228
Coal |P |X
Cars | 5|P
Goods | | 10
Cake | | 6

Looking at it that way I cant tell if you have looked at the list and seen that a new product has been added. So I might be sitting there waiting for cake and you might not know that its been added. But if we put X's in, and you look and see that there is now an empty column and know to update it. I then see you put an X or a P or a number and I know that you have looked at that product.

That being said, your idea has some merit that I never thought of. So rather then put an X, lets try putting a "-" in there. I replaced all the X's with -'s and it looks a bit better.

The changes are defnitely better than what they were. Thank you for doing that.

I have an idea that I've been tossing in the air with myself. As it pertains to the products we ship, and if it's okay with you Jib, I will add a seperate sheet to your Google Doc that displays my concept. I hope to have an example of it done tomorrow evening, since there's no session, and then I will post here so people can go check it out.

Why not like this
Back up Producer-------produce---------Commodity------consumer 1------consumer 2-----so no
------ jib-------------------Ken----------------Coal------------James------------JC---------.

I have added a sheet to Jib's produce and consume spreadsheet. To get to my sheet, go to the bottom of the editing window and find the tab titled "Sheet 5". Click on it and it should bring up a list of the commodities along with who produces and consumes them. Any suggestions are welcome. Some of you may be thinking, "Why is this sheet not complete?" Well that is because it is not! What I have done so far is merely an example. If everybody likes where the sheet is going, I will continue to maintain it.

Here is a link to it:

OOPS, an error was found in the iPortalUPV2.CDP, I have fixed it and uploaded it to my Google drive space. If you installed the previous one delete it and get this one.

@Danny: I hope you have not printed it out yet. It's not done lol. I will try and finish it by Monday, so keep an eye out for it.

@Ken: I am unable to see the new UP consist on your Google Drive. Perhaps it was not made public? Also, I sent you an e-mail the other day in regards to my equipment roster. The e-mail I speak of is a different one then the one with the CDP attached. I may just send you a new CDP.

I really like the format of this sheet, it is much easier to read. Is there any way of putting the KUID number next to the product that way we are all using the same products?... there are some products with similar names but with different KUID. just a thought to help avoid possible problems
