If this has been asked and answered already sorry, but I'm wondering what the breakdown of people's game play is. I'm a person who likes a kind of point to point with realistic traffic to a destination.{Coal to power or ship} with switching and yard work at these points. Most of the real world routes I would prefer to run are not available. And would take a person 8 hr or more to complete the kind a session I speak of. So I was wondering what the average time spent running is, and if switching is more popular than prototypical routes for long sessions? Say more than 3hr.:D

Maybe someone can correct me on this, but I think the switching duties at origin/destination are done by the yard goats and not the mainline crew. Maybe with the exception of coal/grain/bulk; crew just drives through load/unload really slowly. Of course in Trainz nothing is stopping you from doing it all. I like both switching and mainline fast freight, sessions usually less than 2 hours but that's usually due to real world commitments rather than by choice. As a child I used to spend upwards of 7 hours driving on the Whitefish and GN Hi-Line mega routes in MSTS.

LOL:D 8hr would make it a job. No my reason is my own layout takes me 4hr a session from end to end.{ not at one time} And I spend a lot of time switching at my destination exchanging loaded for emtys. When I was modeling in HO six hours or more working on the layout was the norm. So when I went virtual trainz, running phototropic routs was what most interested me. I find that I really enjoy the struggle up or down grades with long trains. With many of the new model layouts too short for this for me,

so would there be any interest in a fiction layout two have lets say a two hour session. A point to to point. or is switching what people want for short sessions, say under a hour or so.:)

Well, I prefer switching but I will occasionally get tired of switching and run one of the built-in Mojave Sub scenarios until I feel like building or switching again, so sure!

Ok, please defined what kind of switching that you like, puzzles or prototypical{passenger or freight}. There is already a lot of switching layout on the DL. Like philskene "Deepwater Railroad Co" or "Trinity Bay Industrial" to name a few. The layouts that I find the most enjoyment are more like EK3 by Demmy. But what's too long, or too short as far as sessions {as to the challenge}. And is it with a layout with or without built in sessions regardless. :)[h=2][/h]
