Ticked Off!

A word or 3

Hi all,
As you may know from my Sig, I own quite a few of Auran's offerings. I began with the original Trainz and was impressed, then to UTC and 2004 when that came out. I bought others to support Auran although I do not use them, well, only to test content I create to make sure it loads okay.
If I run then it is 2004. Why? Because I have quite a lot of locomotives that work without a hitch that will not in later versions. It satisfies my needs and work well and I do not like SpeedTreez at all, much preferring either Trunda's or JVC which to me at least, look something like trees in the real world.

But it's horses for courses; everybody has a right to their opinion and also the right to buy and use whatever version of Trainz they wish for whatever reason.

It will be noted that I test my content out in all versions apart from 2009 and 2012, both of which I don't have. All assets with a 2004 version number in the config work in all other versions, although as stated I cannot vouch for the two I do not own.
Of course content creators who made assets for 2004 when that was the current version could not foresee any problems that might appear for later versions, I don't think any creator can see into the future. So yes, some assets will cause a hiccup, but mostly that can be cured.

My twopennyworth,

Angela

i keep my 06 simmering on the back burner
it runs the best out of all my versions

I agree with you Patchy, Trainz 2006 was a superb trainz simulator and one of the best, I would'nt have moved up, only for the sound issues, of clunk, click, bang, hiss in the distance.

I have found Trainz 2010 to be the best, after Trainz 2006, but your computer will need an upgrade to get the best performance from Trainz 2010, for example most elements in Trainz 2010 will work fantastically, including most of the routes, it is just the E.C.M.L route itself, takes a lot out of a computer as it is a monster route.

If you are happy with Trainz 2004, then I would stick with Trainz 2004, especially for your routes, and if you see anything new available for Trainz, you could run that in Trainz 2012 Native Mode, then you get the best out of both worlds.

For me, I only use Trainz 2010, as it has compatibility mode, as most of my payware cannot run run in Trainz 2012 at all.

By the way there are still sites that are only adapted for Trainz 2004/2006, here are some...

You can get 2004 content fron TrainzProRoutes site. There's a lot there, mostly American, but the UK Section (run down the list a bit for that) is slowly building from Ray Whiley and my own submissions and I have more to go up there soon.

"Horses for Courses". Great comment Angelah. Are you a Golfer? Horses for courses are usually good Golfers who play better on some Courses, but the Analogy is great here. :)

Cheers

Nzer: Get real. Things move on. Dont embarass New Zealanders by being so backward that you cant acept modernity. Are you still using the old dial phones and coal range? Cheers
