This game is really getting on my nerves now!

OK, so after all the problems I was having with my Steam installed games I decided to delete them both and replace them with a DVD version of TS12 and I have just installed a download version of TS10EE direct from Auran. This has cost me in the region of £90 up to now and I'm still having bloody issues! I've installed TS10EE from the download, let it do the patch updates and everything else it asked me to do, I start up the game and I have not got a single route showing in the menu so off I go to Content Manager to see what's going on, Content Manager lists NO missing dependencies at all. I then try to download and install a route (North Wales Coast) and while it's downloading and installing I get hundreds of 'task complete' messages on my bottom task bar, if I close the messages Content Manager shuts down.

Has anyone got any idea what's going on here please? I'm beginning to wish I'd stuck with Railworks now.

Thanks

Hi jon157uk,

With relation to the missing routes, have a read of my blog.

You may need to do a database repair.

The reason you get a lot of 'task complete' boxes is if the route you are downloading either contains faulty content, or content that has already been skipped due to being installed already.

OK. The next stage then would be an extended database repair. Also make sure you have patched to at least 44088.

(I'm suprised though, normally turning off the favourites feature shows the routes)

I've downloaded and installed the patch from your blog, digital download to 44088. I then ran an extended database repair in CM which says there are 97 errors with 0 warnings. I've re-started the game and the routes are now visible in the list but when I try any of them there is nothing showing apart from a grey/brown baseboard and 'chalked in' railway lines, that's it, no scenery, no trains, no traffic....nothing just a huge grey/brown baseboard.

Just to check, you have done all the installing and patching as Administrator as per Shane's tutorials, else Microsoft sticks things in places where Trainz can't find them, settings and preferences don't stick and patching can go a bit haywire.
Hmm this sounds all very odd, check that the graphics resolution is correct in the launcher options and that it is the same in TrainzOptions.txt, often patching resets the default of 1024 x 768 which if using a flat screen causes all sorts of weirdness. Also try switching from OpenGL to DirectX or the other way round and then back to whatever you were using, that can clear graphics glitches.

I'd suggest that North Wales Coast is not a good route to start with it has too many problems for someone new to Trainz, took a fair bit of sorting out here with items that were faulty or not on the DLS or didn't actually exist in the route, see it's description. It is also remotely possible that something downloaded for that route has caused the problems.

totally agree with you jon157uk,i to have spent £s on 2010 and then on2012.I bought 2006 worked a treat, upgraded to2009 no problem with importing any of my routes, then the problems started, could not get anything exept the basic,i had no locos no rolling stock no drivers ,zilch bugger all,i even built a bigger pc to use extra memory better graphics and faster cpu all to no avail,i puchase s&c for 2009 that worked a treat purchased duchess pack for 2012 whilst i was at auran shop that doesent even work i have tried and done just about everything that has been suggested in theese forums but have had no luck.so trz 2010 and 2012 will go in my drawer marked "would have been great had it worked"so a lot of pounds sitting in a drawer ,may have anothe go sometime in the future but after spending so much time installing-reinstalling and tearing my hair out i think it will be along time in the future, off back to my old pc with windows xp and trainz 2009:
old pc specs:32 bit
quad core cpu
6 gb ram
1 tb hdd
gts 250 g-force graphics card

new pc:
quad core cpu
16gb ram
350gb hdd
g-force8800gtx
windows7 64 bit changed to xp 64 bit cos windows 7 is a load of crap.
good luck jon157uk hope you get it all working.
