If you guys spent as much effort as you do fighting, and complaining about signatures, and issuing warnings to everyone at the drop of a hat, INTO FINDING OUT WHY AURAN'S DOWNLOADER DOESN'T WORK VERY WELL.....You would have something to cheer about. I have double checked my computer, my ISP has been at my computer, and the tech from my ISP used his equipment to verify that the downloader had issues. I started a Ticket with Auran about the problems with the downloader and they are still telling me it's on my end, yet I see posts here and on other forums by other users attesting that they too are having the same issues every day. Auran sends people that by their product directly here instead of to themselves. I'm very let down with Auran, and I'm not too thrilled with this forum either.

Well, thanks for sharing. What do you propose those having troubles such as yourself do, exactly? Many post here, and many contact the helpdesk, but aside from that....what?

P.S. Most everyone thinks that the DLS should be cleaned up or reworked.

Just to lighten things up a bit, my normal internet speed for downloading is 19 to 20 Mbits per sec. when I download from Auran its 3.75 to 4.50 Kbps. So I just do something else while its downloading,no need to get my shirt in a knot,so to all those who are stressed out at download speeds,go for a walk, have a beer ,go golfing, anything to unload the stress. Believe me stress is a killer. When you stop and think about it, you have a computer in front of capable of touring the world,get google earth and go for a tour . By the time your tour is over, so are you downloads.

So by looking at the DLS server through your modem he detected the issues, care to let Auran know what his phone number is so they can ask just what they are.
Mate I don't give a stuff what you think of these forums, they have been around for quite a while and will still be here when you leave, unless your attitude changes and you stick around, 9 posts and act like you are big chief little d, erm brain will have to do.

I agree with that. The forums are a really good place to find information on things you are looking for, a place to speak to fellow train lovers, a place to show off your latest content or route and a place which requires a bit more than 9 posts to understand.
No offence RiverRun, but I do believe this is true. We all have our opinions.
As for feeling as if Auran has let you down. You try making a train simulator that awesome and distributing it on thousands of DVDs before sending them to be shipped around the world, then having to put up with people poking and proding at your work.
Then, after all that, starting on the next simulator for next year. All from an office in Brisbane!

As to TRS2006, the DLS works perfectly...and any problems using the CMP is usually on the end users PC. Once I cleared my settings up, it has been working perfectly for 2 years, with no down time at all.

I don't understand the signature thing myself considering the parameters needed to download from the DLS especially now more then ever because Auran's DLS is a piece of steaming excrement and their website often times out on people.
I wish the mods would just simply put the techs to the grind stone and inspire them to fix the problem with that as I am getting tired of having to write a book long rant about problems with DLS and other annoying stuff. Come to think of it, why should we listen to what Auran wants when they don't seem to listen to us? I don't know why the mods particularly listens to Auran either with all things considering.
But, if anyone has dial up now a days, my advice is not purchase Trainz due to internet requirements on trying to download stuff. Also to the signature naggers, do something more productive like advocating for better product and service quality......you know...something that actually matters so Auran MAY be inspired to actually fix what is broken before venturing into a stupid dingbat venture of Trainz for kids that go around a bed simulation and any other gratuitous fail spin off-LOL.

The signature thing is an archaic relic left over from the dialup dark ages. Plus, the signature size is NOT what is causing the bandwidth hit on a site dedicated to downloading content, and looking at screens of said content. Do you know what 300Kb is compared to 30Kb? It is complaining that you have to carry 300 grains of sand in your bucket, rather than 30 grains of sand. In my opinion, we need a higher KB limit, (probably around 300, that way you can have more than 3 colors without destroying quality) and a better aspect ratio, such as 800X200. (we don't want the pics to get too large, I can understand that.)
Also, we need to be able to upload our own avatars. The helpdesk has stopped processing them, so how come we can't just upload our own? Other websites allow it.
Oh, and I understand exactly what Riverrun is talking about. This forum does tend to bicker abour the smallest of things. Just something I have noticed. There also seems to be some sort of civil war going on, where you will have the n00bs(new people who just don't get how to act in a forum setting), the New users(new people who know how to act in a forum setting and are quite pleasent to deal with, but sometimes think that any criticism of a n00b is also criticism of a new user.), the veterans who are just sick and tired of the n00bs' annoying tendencies(improper spelling and grammar[as in very bad, or text speek], image quoting, image quoting of multiple images to ask about one, especially when the post is right before theirs[talk about raping bandwitdth.], and just being obstenant when people give them criticism, and then you have the veteran users who think that everything should be sunshine and lollypops, and who find any criticism of anyone is wrong, and that any criticism of Auran is wrong, and all of that stuff. Oh, and we can't forget the trolls, who come on here just to cause trouble, or scam people. But they are normally seen for what they are, and banned quite quickly.(Except for that time when there was no mod around for once and the guy was posting porn and attacking people. That was bad.)
This is just what I have noticed. I am not attacking anyone or anything like that, just making and observation.
Oh, and I hate these stupid arguments about whether or not content should be allowed to be uploaded to 3rd party sites or kept exclusively on the DLS. I have two things here, 1) It should be the creators choice, and 2) Given Auran's track record recently regarding the stability of the DLS, I would rather keep uploading to 3rd party sites.
Oh, one more thing that I have a problem with on this forum, CENSORSHIP. It seems that any thread that is having a good debate about something controversial in the forum, something that affects all of us, will be deleted within a few hours, and any discussion lost. How is anything going to change if any talk of change is exactly what I don't want here on this forum. Everything is great. All hail Auran, the great and powerful Auran. With this forum, we can crush anyone who disagrees with the will of Auran. We shall march upon the dissenters and the rebels in a glorious mass.

Well, this is the official Auran Forum, and this place is attached to Auran's website. Is it at all possible the Administrators and Staff could contact Auran and ask when the problems are going to be solved? There is no denying there is a problem with the DLS, and it has worsened since TRS2010 was released. You can read the posts referring to the problems here every day. Why should I or anyone else purchase anymore First Class Tickets when you get "The Auran Downloader is not available at this time" or "Internet Explorer cannot find the address you have requested"? I've burned through 2 First Class Tickets so far, and I'm not getting another. I'm not some kid, I'm 58 years old, and I'm not a person that posts a lot of posts. I don't have dial up. When a website is off line, it is not available, and you can't fault that to a person's computer. Furthermore, I do not now, or have I ever had a signature since I joined here. My point was if you people would get together and contact these people and let them know there is a problem that needs fixed, I would imagine the thing would get fixed. But if you just pick at each other, nothing will get done.
I'm on dial-up and seem to struggle along just fine. When I find a route that interests me I download the map and make sure I have the tracks and ground textures. If it is something I may like to keep, I'll just "redecorate" it or download the minimum to make it functional. Slimming down my third party content to what I feel is the best for me was the best thing I've ever done. I'm currently under 5GB. Really, how much do you need?
Signatures, I really don't care one way or the other. Thats between who has them and Auran and pretty much none of my business. With all thats wrong with this game on the functional level there are more important things to address than signatures, spelling, etc. Gets on my nerves but who am I to complain about the complainers? There is a trend lately of people who say anything negative about Auran being set upon. If you read through some the replies here you'll see what I mean. Maybe some posts deserve it, maybe they don't. I just find it ironic that some people defend this forum as a place to share ideas or whatever are the first to set on someone when they post something that doesn't go with the grain. Say what you want as long as you agree with us.
Everyone here has paid their dues with this company and are entitled to their opinion, good, bad or indifferent. The forum police, feel good nazis and the complainers who complain about the complainers aren't making things better anywhere. I may not agree with a lot, but, its not my place to go after others because of it.
