Thinking of trying a different turntable and roundhouse.

Morning gents;

I noticed the great Mr. msgsapper had an "updated" turntable at the DLS this morning, along with rolling stock, track items, building, etc. The man does it all!

I'm using andi06's turntable and roundhouse now. It is a fine looking and great working unit. I just want something that looks a little dirtier. I was going to use Sniper's somewhat dirtier version of this one, but it was a little larger and was not going to work in the area I need to put it.

Anyway...can somebody using "sap's" turntable tell me if you can connect a lead in track to ANY part of the turntable? I cannot use it the way the two lead in tracks are now. My roundhouse and turntable are in a tight spot between a harbour and the yard. I'd like to know before I start tearing apart my old roundhouse and turntable.

Thanks msgsapper for all your great work, and thanks to everyone for all your help!

Cheers....Rick

Well I can't answer your question about track connections, but you could download it and place it
on a new blank board to see what track connections are possible.

Thanks Bill and Ken. Well, I will try it, just in case. I'm still just a beginner at this. Never think to put things on a new board! The morning has not been a total loss, after some trial and error, I got my fine looking cabooses to stop smoking. I wanted a few sitting idle in my yard.

Lots to learn, thanks again.....cheers, Rick

I should say I got sandman2's fine looking cabooses to stop smoking. Thanks again, Sandy!

Why don't you just clone your original route, and try shoe horning in the other roundhouse in the cloned route? No harm to the original one this way.

Morning pdkoester; You know, I have 2 mirror copies of TS12. Maybe once a month, I delete all the files in those installs and copy the files from the install I'm working on into them. So, I've got 3 installs on three hard drives. Other than copying the files, I never do anything in the mirror installs and forget all about them. I will use one for "experimenting". I'll give the roundhouse and turntable a go on one of them. Hee, hee, yesterday, after I found out how to stop smoke from coming out of cabooses, ships tied up at docks, buildings, etc., that's what I spent my time on. OK, today I'm trying to see what I can do with that roundhouse and turntable.

Thanks guys, I'll let ya know what happens. Yeah, what I'm doing must be "overkill". I also have my route and user file backed up in a couple of places. Hee, hee, believe me, my route is not worthy of all this trouble, I just don't want to have to start from scratch.

Cheers....Rick

Thanks guys; By golly, with very little adjusting of my lead in track, she slipped right in! I was able to use one of sap's "stubs" after all. I changed the track in sap's config file to something a little rustier. I'm going to try a few more just to see how they look. I'm still sort of amazed at what a simple moron can do playing around with the config file. I still have a hard time shaking the idea that I will break something and not be able to fix it!

I have a few adjustments to make, but I'm loving the pit! I must have used a similar dirt texture, because it matches up pretty good.

Thanks all for your help on this!

Cheers...Rick
