On the Tank Cars...they really come in handy, because a long time ago I said this route was big, at least the map was....and I found oil. Here is is. Guess where?

So what do we have to haul on this route as it stands now? Iron Pellets that a given...limestone and bentonite, for the Mines. Timber and wood products from Bigfoot Timber & Lumber Mill in Nagaunee. Wood Pulp and Paper...from all the tree's I'm have to cut down in this route. Coal to the 2 Power Plants... Grain to make pasties at Ishpeming at the Pillbury plant. Now Oil.

That's Ok really, because if I live long enough...there's a DEM topo that takes this thing to Escanaba in the southeast and Houghton to the west. We'll just pretend that we live in China with this thing. Oh yea, Propane too.

That cyber tour has helpful....

Hit me up and once I get my TRS back in order and running right...I will shoot ya my WC fleet that ya might enjoy :D

Consider youself hit up once.

I could see on google earth where the power lines were running south from the power plant. It's just a clear cut through the woods and fairly easy to match up on the dem. But not the detail and quantity of power heading south for bug zappers in the U.P.

For instance...

Looking south out of Marquette.. I couldn't figure out why all this land was cleared...until I saw some photos. There are 4 power lines heading up this clearing.

The one that has me stumped as to find...is a dual power line...looks like an "H" and I can't find it anywhere.

I need a little help here...

This is a shot of the yard at Eagle Mills looking east from the south entrance...I suspect one of these spurs is Pioneer Pellet, what is the other one and what is the order?

WC's heading west for Partridge Junction.

Partridge Jct is the proper name if you care.

Route looks great!

Is that the name of the yard too?

Look at those tailing piles....now I can mow down trees till my heart is content...for miles and miles and miles.

Working down in Palmer, MI tonight.

At the Empire Mine with 17 new RRMOD freebie H62R Hoppers offered this week. Pictured is every one they have producded sitting at Empire.

Here's a look at the old Tracy Mine Site.

This is a before picture... I'm restoring the Yard here as it was bought up by Big Foot Timber for main timber operations. It literally lies right between Eagle Mills and the Wisconsin Centerals' Partridge Yard before you get to the Empire Mine at Palmer.

Photo from New Buffalo Road.

No school tomorrow..

In fact never, in this train sim. The dem showed a yard up in Negaunee, and google earth showed a highschool. Since this is a train sim, and there was no Negaunee Highschool building to place here you get a lumber mill....

The mill runs to the Euclid Yard in Ishpeming, or the old Tracy Mine Site or...Ishpeming downtown picking up the yard to the north of the town.

Another diamond intersection. Getting closer to the Oil.

Here's the Junction.

At the bottom of the screen....I added a line about 1/2 mile back to Neqaunee, MI. To the Right of the screen I added about 1000ft of track back to Ishpeming. To the Left I restored the old Tracy Mine track and brought it southwest to connect this line. And dropped in the lumber operations necessary to do this route.

Looking at those Photos.....

The dem, google....and this is as good as the good ole Harris Yard is going to get for now....Heck I even threw in the SOO Jeeps.

Word to the wise....

When you are working off a dem in the woods, get your track first, then the roads, then the Power, then everything else. In that order.

One of the main reason to put the lumber yard here?

Because, back in the day there were tracks here on the dem, and still faintly visible by google earth. The reconnect I'm making is here at the Lumber Mill. To the point out in the distance to an existing yard in Ishpeming that is running right behind the woods where the power line goes through. But, It is a nice view......too.
