The West Norfolk Railway - WIP

Good to hear from you again, Andy. I knew the area you are modelling quite well in my younger days (and that's back in the days of steam) when growing up in King's Lynn. I recall spending long waits at times on March station, and at a very young age being quite scared by the level crossing at Murrow, when I though two trains might come along at the same time (probably aged three or four).

When a student in Birmingham, my beginning and end of term route was the push-pull from King's Lynn to South Lynn, then the M&GN to Birmingham with a very long wait in Leicester station - about an hour, I think.

I also used the Lynn - Hunstanton regularly but can't remember actually travelling from Heacham to Wells by train - shame!

Best wishes.

I haven't yet travelled on the 'Fen line' from King's Lynn to Ely and back, not even on the new-fangled class 365 they use. Every time I jump on the X1 bus to Lynn I always seem to catch the loaded sand train there as it leaves the dock line loop for its outward journey to Goole. One time over at Peterborough, I caught the Lynn sand train as it was taking the curve (under the East Coast Main line nr the Nene Valley Railway station) into Peterborough station. Even though it's nearly 30 years since i travelled from Wisbech by train : the WAMRAC / RDS Wisbech - York - Scarborough charter in July 1984 (Br Class 47 and nine Br MK1 TSO's and a BR MK1 buffet coach, i'm hoping money is found by Railfuture to re-open the branch across the wild fens.

Gone and posted a selection of photos in prototype talks section of these forums of the Wisbech line, which you may like and probably get some useful inspiration from. the thread is called ''disused Wisbech and march railway photos'' on my web moniker 'fen tiger'

All the best.

Andy
