The Strasburg Railroad WIP

Is this an updated version? Looks good. Is this the absolute best version in Trainz? Gandalf did a version as well. And you did two other versions. Are those the only Strasburgs in Trainz, I thought there were a few more, and there's one called Harvest Passage that is Strasburg. But, you have the actual East Strasburg station and enginehouse modeled. Will this version of Strasburg be available soon? Does it have Red Caboose Motel in it?

@thad09-Yes I have worked a lot on the route since those last two pics. Basically I filled in some blank areas along the line that I hadn't gotten to yet. I also spent a lot of time creating my first track, and I successfully got it working! So hopefully I will add that in then take some more update shots!

@rwk-Yes this is a brand new DEM with custom objects, as you can see. Other than needing to create more buildings, I just need to finish up the area near the station, then the small portion of the Amtrak Harrisburg Line that heads west from Leaman Place. The Red Caboose Motel is there, well not the custom building that is. Hopefully when I head back to Strasburg I'll take some good pics of it so I can model it. Still a bunch left to do here but I'm really hoping it will get done sometime this year (not gonna put a trademark on that, but I'm gonna strive to make that happen :)).

Been there several times. The road to Paradise. The route's looking good.

You're really capturing the essence of it. Nice gentle rolling hills in the Amish farm country. Men, boys and horses still work the fields and coal smoke drifts over the corn. Like scenes from a time capsule.

You have one very finely detailed route there !

I believe RPearson is working on the EBT RR route ... now that is one huge DEM project (2 EBT DEM's are on the DLS).
Mostly right on that though I go for long stretches with no apparent progress and others with a lot of lost progress.

About 130 miles west of Strasburg following the PRR main line to Mt Union and the EBT interchange. If you were transported back there thru time you might see me with a surveyor's tansit over my shoulder heading back out to see why my route to Broad Top Mountain doesn't match their survey maps. The main line of the EBT is only 32 miles or so but including the branch lines in use or abbandoned up thru 1929 and the McKelvey Bros ng logging rr from the EBT interchange at Rockhill to Fort Littleton plus a bit of the PRR main adds a lot of boards to the map.

Ok cool! So what website are you releasing it from? Or are you gonna have two versions (one for TRS2006 and onew for the DLS)?

Fred

Well since it's for TRS2006, it can't be released to the DLS, so I'm putting it up on Trainz Commuter Rail.

Any more updates? Is this the only DEM version available? All the other versions seem to be flat baseboard. Will it be out before December this year? You must have started from scratch for this version not updated the other version.

That's correct. The reason it has been taking so long is that I was kindly given a fresh DEM, so I decided to completely restart. What I did since the last update was I filled in some more blank spots, and re-textured areas that needed to be fixed. What's left is the other portion of the Amtrak Harrisburg Line heading towards Harrisburg, plus 3D modelling more custom buildings. As for right now, I do not have any update shots. Like I said in an earlier post I am trying my best to finish this by the end of this year, for now I am a little burned out. Hopefully I can find the candle lighter somewhere and get back to some real work. :)

Good news.....except for still having to create some more custom buildings in gmax for this route...I have reached the end! The entire route is completely textured, both the Strasburg line and Amtrak Harrisburg Line, and all necessary foliage and other non-custom buildings have been added! Here are some screenies of the west end of the Harrisburg Line (click to enlarge pics)...

Heading back to the East Strasburg Station, here's a couple shots of the latest building out of gmax, the SRR Gift Shop...

Did I mention it has nightmode?

I also fixed up the East Strasburg Station Building to have a bit of nightmode...

To end it off for now, within the past couple months Strasburg has been building a freight siding track that begins from the station and heads through the parking lot towards the yard, so I figured it would be necessary to add that. Still trying to mess with the parking lot surrounding the track as you can see....

That's all I have for now, from now on all I have to do is make some custom signs, buildings, etc to finish this off, then this project will be DONE!!

Are you planning on making any of the buildings available for download? I too am making a SRR route but do not have the skills to do the custom buildings. I am also curious as to where you got the SRR cars/engines?

Route looks amazing as well! Nice work!

That's looking beautiful! Can't wait to see the finished product for my self, as well as the Valley line. Hoping my CMRR/U&D routes come out looking as good as yours! The Custom buildings are wonderful recreations of what I've seen!

Cheers

A couple of the buildings are already available for download on the DLS (search my username for them) however I have already updated a couple of them since their initial release. All of the custom buildings will be included in the dependencies pack for this route when it is released. The SRR cars are reskins of bendorsey's TOTC cars, they are just kinda for personal use since I only modified the text portions. #90 is available at TCR (click on my sig), and #7312 was made by leeferr and is on the DLS (search SRC 7312). And thanks very much for your kind words!
