Hi guys, I am still on trainz build 49922.
What are the implications should I buy this new pack from Sim Central, how does it affect the guys who have not upgraded to the latest build yet please.

As N3V have stated in the newsletter (as well as previously regarding other packs), the pack will not work in versions prior to TS12 SP1. This is also stated on the purchase page, and it's likely to be the case for any future DLC content.

Worst case scenario you wasted AU$19,90 on digital content that does not work. Your game will not be damaged; it might not even install.

Maybe you are able to manually lower it to a lower version of the game, but don't be surprised if it does not work and do not expect any support or money back from N3V if indeed it does not work.

Please correct my thoughts where I am thinking wrong.
I understand to an extent the following : I can sit where I am with build 49922 and no more updates or fixes, no future Sim Central stuff and possibly third party stuff won't work, I tired twice and it failed and I first have to attend university to do it right.
I can try and install the fixes and upgrades to the latest build and perhaps it will work and perhaps it will not, breaking a lot of good stuff along the way, which can only basically be fixed by trainzers who are PC boffins.
I think I understand one can buy the upgraded and fixed TS12 for +- 10 bucks providing one has a registered version of TS12, and if so will it still break stuff.

I can answer a few of those.

Firstly, any new Simulator Central DLC content will be for TS12 SP1 and higher only.

Secondly, there are known bugs with TS12 SP1, but workarounds are available for some of these. Also, due to more stringent checks, some content will be faulty but the amount is reducing.

Thirdly, there is a discount code for TS12 + SP1 somewhere on the forum.

SP1 introduces a lot of unpleasant stuff, and there are quite a few of us who won't downgrade. Do a search, as there have been quite a number of threads discussing all the problems SP1 introduces, including an active one about bugs in the TS12 subforum.

That said, you'll have to weigh for yourself whether if SP1 is worth it. For me, it isn't, and there are a few other content creators who are no longer creating Trainz content because of it. At a minimum, you might want to wait a few months til the DLC goes on sale to make a decision. But, IMO, spending $10 to get a patch seems like a waste when one can get it for free. You'll still have to (or, rather, SHOULD) go through the same rigamarole of making a backup copy, possibly having to import your old content, etc. - seems like even if you were paying $10 for convenience, that would be offset by the extra work you'd have to do.

Edit: Here's the TS12 subforum thread I was talking about. It actually hasn't been updated in a few weeks, but is 72 pages long. There are many more in the General subforum about SP1 problems.

I have trouble in that I suffer with trainzilitis, I read the forum threads and then my toys call for my attention and I get lost , especially when there are 72 pages and numerous threads around a subject.
It's okay getting old, I put things away and forget where, I can't find them but then I forget I am looking for them :)
