I am going to buy a new laptop. The old one has been used for almost 4 years. Anyone can suggest the pc requirement to run Trainz 09 in full performance?:)

Trainz is open ended. This means any machine you buy I can design a layout to bring it to its knees.

One with a dedicated Video card instead of integrated, at least 2.5 Gb of memory, SLI Video card if possible, and the fastest processor you can afford - basically spend up to your budget :D

Make sure, what ever laptop you buy, they have a free upgrade to Windows 7 - as from the comments in these forums and others, Windows 7 is a far superior gaming OS than Windows Vista.

Good Luck with your purchase

Fantastic processor--almost a bit much from my experience, but it will definitely work and be future-proof as well.

You'll want at least a Radeon 4650 or Nvidia 9600 video card, 4gb of RAM. Windows XP is best at the moment, but Windows 7 will work if you can't get XP drivers.

Even though I haven't decided on a laptop yet either, I've been looking at some that might be pretty good for gaming:

$1,299.99 ASUS N70SV-X1 - Super fast Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz and fair-speed nVidia GeForce GT 130M (I'd give it 3 stars, and it is very similar to the 9600M/9650M series chips, but with 1 GB of memory) 1600 x 900 in a 17.3" screen. Also has Blu-Ray and twice the hard drive space as the one below - 640 GB vs. 320 GB. A little better value-for-the-money in my opinion.

$1349.99 MSI GT725-074US - Excellent high-speed Mobility 4850 graphics (I'd give it 4.5 stars) & turbo button to overclock the Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor from 2.4 GHz to 2.7-2.8 GHz when plugged into power outlet. 1680 x 1050 in a 17.0" screen size. Better performing than the one above when it's overclocked.

Both of these I would recommend for playing Trainz. There are definitely faster laptops out there, but these are some of the cheapest gaming laptops that I've seen in a while.

Hope this helps!

$1,299.99 ASUS N70SV-X1 - Super fast Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66 GHz and half-decent nVidia GeForce GT 130M (the exact same as the 9600M GT chip, but with 1 GB of memory) 1600 x 900 in a 17.3" screen. Also has Blu-Ray and twice the hard drive space as the one below. A little better value-for-the-money.

According to the Notebook check site http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M rates average of 5581 in 3DMark 06, F.E.A.R.: - GPU: max, CPU: max 1024x768, average of 65 FPS.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4850 rates average of 9855 in 3DMark 06, F.E.A.R.: - GPU: max, CPU: max 1024x768, average of 141 FPS.

Looks like the MSI GT725-074US is the faster of the two in the graphics department.
