The North Valley Fisaco

Going back in time...
I've hit a brain block, I really want to redo my paint-job for my railroad. But I really don't know where to start? I kinda want to do a Fierce Art-Deco Sudo-Mopac Eagle on this new paint-job. But I really don't know how to execute it. Help.

Post a picture of what you have now, and perhaps we can help.

If you're thinking Art-Deco, think big and heavy, very straight lined, like Futura Black, Speedball, Avant Garde, Speed lettering - which is similar to what the Western Maryland used back in the late 1930s early 1940s.

I spent 5 years working as a typesetter, setting magazine and newspaper advertisements, coupons, and poster advertisement copy for agencies and local newspapers.

Maybe make it a bit more fierce and almighty.

I'm right now using the UP's lettering.

Check this out for ideas:

This might give you some ideas.

UP is okay. Try what the Southern Pacific used.
Also with a logo like this, the old MP might work too.

Keep thinking, you're going in the right direction now.

Well, the eastern roads are giving me the wrong vibe. I want something Western-ish. Throw me anything.

I was looking around...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Pacific_Railroad

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missouri_Pacific_Railroad

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana_Rail_Link --- modern but included it anyway.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Northern_Railway_(U.S.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrizo_Gorge_Railway

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Diego_and_Arizona_Railway - modern parent of above is San Diego and Imperial Valley.

Note this is earlier style font and logos. I couldn't find anything more modern.

For other Art Deco fonts, look at Bau Haus, Busorama, Frutiger, Broadway, Optima, Eros, any of the other Futura family, Helvetica (boring), and even the Budoni family.
