The Illinois Railway Museum Route

Thanks PWeiser for giving us permission to release it on the DLS. Plus I will PM you the electric drawings either when I get from work tonight or tomorrow which I have a day off work.

Good evening everyone, Got some work done on the route today, again most of the work was adding in trees.

Thats all for tonight, now time to get some sleep because its late.

;) Just like in real life it takes a while to plant all those trees, and make them look realistic not staged, your accomplishments looks really nice.

One Question if I may? Photo in MSG #663,

Where did you find that nice silver Water Tower? :udrool: I haven't seen one like that before in Trainz?

That water tower is standing in until someone models the one that is in Union Illinois, it's was made by EastCoastTrainz and you can get it at the erecting hall.

Thanks, I'm grateful for telling me, that is one of the coolest things. On long trips I used to see these water towers going through different states, I marveled as to how someone could build a shape like that. Let alone install it, that takes some serious building skills.

Update Monday Morning, Just downloaded that Water Tank Last night and placed one on my Alps Route, but now I'm thinking I can't have it there because the Altitude will freeze the water, I doubt it is insulated on the inside for those low temps.

So I have another spot to use, well actually several warmer spots.......LOL

Got to go to work now. Hope you all like what I added.

Looks great Matt!

When you get back, could it be possible for you and your team to work to make this TS12 compatible? Because I hate running T:ANE on my pc.

Thanks but as I said it before and I will say it again I have no intentions of making a TS12 version because it will be too much work to back date the route and replace newer assets that won't work in TS12 like the Trees.

Im working on my route today, here is a little preview of what I worked on so far. I finished laying out the trees and bushes that are the closet to the IRM mainline in this area just past the private farm. I will have more to show off tonight so stay tuned.

Im still debating on if I should have Scott make his IRM Trolley Pole Splines from Scenery Splines to Track Objects because that will also lower the amount of spline points on this route but I will have to see if he is willing to do that. Plus the other reason why the trolley poles are not yet in place is that there are a few others that still need to be made but Im awaiting on what Scott plans to do next.

Matt makes a good point. Backdating a route for a previous version of Trainz is very difficult. Things won't load, assets may end up being faulty, unsupported build numbers, and of course the fact that Trainz 12 uses a completely different speed tree library. The other matter is, TS12 is no longer the flagship title of Trainz, which means support for it will eventually drop and the game will no longer be developed for. T:ANE is the future, whether people like it or not.

Thanks for pointing that out Daylightrain and now back to the route. Again while I was working on it, I remembered Cascade posting a topic in "Military Trainz" where he asked "Is there a route that these fine assets can be used?" well in the past IRM has been a host to a few WWII re-enactment events like shown in the photos below

Well Ive been thinking if I should do a WWII Re-enactment scene here at Johnson siding behind the small platform station to add some action in the otherwise empty grassy field. I was wondering if its a good idea or not... What do you guys think?

Hello Matt3985,

In answer to your question if you should do this "WWII re-enactment events" ?

I would vote yes.

 Great idea if you can bring this into play on your Route.

;) Anything that adds realism to mundane area of the Route is an added bonus.

Hello everyone, I did a lot of work on my route today, lets get too it before I leave for work.

First off I added a lot of new objects inside the museum ranging from people, to vehicles and other small objects.

Thats all for today. Hope you all like what you see. Plus me and Paul/ aka PWieser have a little surprise that we plan on showing off soon so stay tuned.

A question - why do you need to put such hi-poly planes in the sky, if the main attention is focused on the trains and tracks?
some planes are only there temporarily (liked that Japanese Plane) while some like that Wildcat and SBD dauntless are going to be there permanently. As for the hot air balloon, that will stay as well.

I'm still upset about this not being TS12 Compatible. But it is looking good. I hope to earn enough money this summer from mowing lawns to build a new PC.
