A new Bus that is being thought of in China. The Straddling Bus will Allow Smaller vehicles under it without problems and have sensors in it that tells bigger vehicles (Like Trucks and Other Regular Buses) to drive around it. While smaller vehicles pass under it there will be sensors built into the underside of the bus to let people know that they are getting way to close. Check out the video it will tell you the rest

wow.....cool

I can't think any other words to describe the concept. Wish I'd thought of it first....

What happens if a huge lorry has broken down, and then the straddling bus approaches on the same stretch of road as the lorry, how does the straddling bus get past, or do you have a straddling bus jam...

HaaaHaaaHaaa to Infinity ...:hehe: Brilliant in concept ... but It'll never work

Makes as much sence as retractable traffic bollards http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWnfeDtnuds

Actually retractable bollards are used all over Europe, and can be found in most cities there. What you cannot really see in the vid is the fact that there is signs warning drivers that they cannot go that way & that there are retractable bollards.

I think however the most common use I saw for the retractable bollards is for blocking off roads (or ped-ways) during certain times. Such as, a ped-way would not allow cars on it except between 10pm-8am or something, thus allowing the city to get in and preform maintenance & the shop owners to get their deliveries.

How the hell will it turn?
From what was said in the Video they might run it on rails or it will follow a automatic system that will follow special painted lines in the road where the Bus will follow. It Is Articulated and everything

I hate to disagree with you on those two. They do work, and work well. THe retractable bollards are meant to keep people out of the bus lanes, for the most part, unless you tailgate the bus, they work quite well. People know damn well they are there, they just don't care, they want to get where they are going faster.

I will say this. That Bus will scare the crap out of drivers wwhen it suddenly out of nowhere drives over them
