The Canadian Thread - Hi-Res images

My search for gas price brought me to 1955 at 23 cents per gallon and was 31 cents in 1965. So what I would do , at least keep both numbers 29 and put 26.9 for regular (the 6 is the upside down 9) and 29.9 for super which was probably the price in early 60's or late 50's.

Re post #3093-3094 ...incredible shots once again Ken. BTW, could you tell me please which asset is the ''robin hood flour'' on the store ...I digged to find out but ..nope.... neither the hanging 7up sign someone else used...can't find it.
Thanks for the reskin ''Supertest''
Rail4Pete

P.S. Deane, You make so good hi-quality content, you do not have to apologize for the price of gas, it has certainly be at that price in a later era.... Thanks for your contributions !

I grew up in Washington State and when I started driving, 1966, gas was about $0.35 to $0.37 a gallon. I could almost fill up my 53 Chevy for $5.00. Getting the $5 was the hard part.

There are some really nice shots in this thread, amazing work.

Regards,

Good idea there. I'll keep that in mind when I update the asset to add normal maps and snow textures. I'll have to also work out how to change from 4-digits to 3-digits without screwing things up.

That's my quick try......

Ken, nice work with your latest shots! You really know how to put a great scene together.

That's another good one from you as well, Pierre, and nice work with the sign! And I agree that Deane makes a lot of great content. Maybe if I played with Blender more.....

Talking about gas prices, if I remember correctly gas was about 43 or 45 cents a gallon in 1972/73. That's when I had my first car and I could fill it for a bit over 5 bucks.

Back to a more recent time with this shot but I will return to the days of steam and you'll be able to see what's on the flat car Pierre.

Cheers, Jack

RE Post #3097 Rail4Pete.

Hello Pierre, the "Robin Hood" sign is part of the texture that is: "general store" by pramsden <kuid2:156733:8023:2> and is available on the DLS.

Thank you all for the compliments. About he price of petrol/gas I am afraid I know nothing, but the price of a pint beer is another matter, from 2 shillings (10p) in 1968 to nearly £5.00, (London prices) shows the effect of inflation.

Expensive cheers Ken.

£5.00 for a warm beer? Seems overpriced alright. One day I'll have to cross the pond and try some of your brew, Ken.
Cheers, Jack

re post #3103 jackyamstel

Stay away from the tourist traps Jack, £3.50 average, I know where to go.

CN.........

Cheers Ken

Nice shots as usual, Ken. The one in post #3105 is my favourite of the last three.

Pierre, here's a shot so that you can see the flat cars and their loads. Two loads covered with tarps, one tractor and one transformer.

Cheers, Jack

Post #3107 Nice shot Jack and thanks for showing these ''mysterious'' loads. We never know what is under the tarp !

Thank you gentlemen for the compliments.

All very good shots from your good selves.

cheers Ken.

Nice job there kingstonflyer. I like that dirty switch machine.

That water in your second shot comes pretty close to some of the mountain lakes I've seen, Ken. Looks good.
Cheers, Jack
