The Boston and Western

Inn

Mr.Inn
Hello - Below is a route that me and my friend have created. We have a lot of screenshots and will update you on on progress. We have spent over a year on this route and looking for your idea. The basic summary is that we have (3) Passenger lines... and 2 freight operations... With a port scene. Everyone merges into (South Station/ Back Bay Station and you go from there.. All grade xings are ATLS and G Style signals. AI can operate this route without issues, and this is very typical pro-train operations. Also, we have made a passenger schedule for those who love passenger realism. Everything is built for a reason and there is a lot of detail. To conclude we have two major tram lines to help serve the city, altought we have in the process of fixing some of the stations. Tram lines merge at 2nd Street Junction right by the Tram Depot. We are not ready to release this quite yet, but we want you to give your thoughts on the route.

More updates about our routes, Passenger Service:

Richmond Line: South Station... Port of Boston... Beverly.. North Beverly.. Ipswitch.. Richmond (a mini terminal for this line) some passenger trains stop here. We continued the line and added a whole new scene - runs along a highway... pics coming soon) were you get four stations - Newtonville..West Newton and lastly a terminal stop of Aburndale. These stations force you to run on the IB side of the track due too having only platforms on one side. This can cause problems if you want to create AI for this route but it will pose real life problems that dispatch are dealing with right now for the MBTA! Once you reach Aburndale - you can enter the portal or use the power plant there. Freight cans run on this line too. It's fun to blast the horn as you're speeding through stations! We have about 24 hard earned miles for this route!

Needham Line: This is an interesting line as it was a merge of a few of the routes in the game. You leave South Station and go into Back Bay...You then hit Fairmont which you can see the tram stop and a major yard enterence access point. Then you go into Upper Corners (Flag Stop) and stop at Logan Airport.. Yes it's a nice airport scene! Some trains turn there.. but others continue into Needham. You have 3 stops in Needham. Needham Junction.. Needham Center (Flag stop) and Needham Heights (terminal) from their, freight trains enter into a new district that was hand built by my friend Jay - We call it the front royal district. Great district and freight loves will love it! This route is about 24 miles in total. The front Royal area has a few yards and a few industries but it's just run to run on! Also it's neat because you have the opporunity to see the "older section parts of the route" - It's the only single trackage in the whole map! You can't really run AI but if ur into freight this is the route for you

Palmer/ San Diego Line - Our first major passenger line and one of the best lines out there. We start off in South Station - hit the *underground area of the route as you leave boston.** You now enter Back Bay.. Ruggles.. Hyde Park.. On the right side of the map, you will be next to the powerful Beacon Yard so you might catch some freight trains doing some switching there! About 7 miles later we get to enter into Banks Heath.. Warrego.. (There is portal access here for AI trains) - Then you enter a city of Detriot - Literally you go through a city. Proceed at 50 MPH but be carful at some major grade xings! and proceed slowly into Detriot staton and then cross over the Sharon river as you leave Sharon station.. Now this is the long/hard part of the route. It takes 13 minutes to go to the next stop! Before reaching Mansfield you enter the horseshoe curve.. a nice 35 MPH scene as it models the one in PA. From Mansfield, you hit Attleboro... If your running Amtrak you get to hit the grade crossing going 90MPH.. lots of speed here and then into San Diego! (a terminal / freight yard) - YOu have protal access in San Diego to run AI trains. Some passenger trains turn there but not all. SD is probably one of the best stations built on the route. At San Diego there is also a commuter storage train for (6) yard trains to storage their for the commute. You can continue with the route to hit the Palmer division.. a nice merge of one of the routes in game.. touched up into a US model. You hit Brooksfield, Ware and Palmer (the final stop for our passenger trains) - This is a long treck back to SD. It will take you about 35-40 minutes due to speed restrictions and single track problems! Also lots of flag stops for this part of the route! You can choice to stop there or not. In the schedule only a few trains do. Lots of freight options for this line and you will see two major yards.. Port scene.. (a real port) and Beacon Yard..And we have two mini yards.. San Diego and Palmer. Amtrak will continue on from this point but we added in a nice cape scene which is only used in the summer. In total we have about 60 miles of mainline for this branch!

Cape Branch: You cross over the main and enter a non-signal line which is used for a tourism train only! Runs from Palmer.. Stopping at Palmer.. Wareham (also an Amtrak stop).. Beachview (a station literally next to the beach).. Fall River (You do a reserve move and head back onto the cape branch) - Then you hit Hyannis and Falmonth! Life is a challenge on this line and only ONE train at a time.. We got a cool "triangle scene too." This branch is only about about 5-6 miles but takes a while because of the 30MPH and 40MPh speed restrictions. Lots of grade xings too so be careful as you hit some of these highly populated areas!

Line Overview: -Can support AI (With about 5 Portals on the route.. labeled PRODUCE and CONSUME it would be easy for AI to run this route)
-Can Support freight/passenger
-Makes sense in term of a real railroad

In general: That's how I run it this route but the best part is the choice is yours! Have a good one, can't wait for the feed back!
