The Beer Line

Hi all,

Not sure if this has already been done in Trainz, but I have started to take a stab at it. The Beer Line was Model Railroader's yearly project layout for 2009. Articles ran from January to May. The layout is set in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the 1960s (I believe) and models the Milwaukee Road. The primary power is Fairbanks Morse H-10-44 switchers. It is a modular layout in real life, but my Trainz rendition is the 4x12 continuous loop set-up.

I Used Basemapz to lay the track. Here are the initial progress pictures:

Lots of work to be done so stay tuned for updates!

Did some more work last night and got the first trains running.

First I added the actual table, but much work has to be done to it

Then I also added the roadwork, though most of the roads will be replaced with ones that look closer to the prototype

Then I ran some test trains for the first time

I still need to find a FM H-10-44. Might just end up reskinning JR's S12 if I can't find one

While I wait for the H-10-44 to download, I worked on the basic texturing, and back corner of the layout a bit

The grain elevator was put in place and a small grass field was added

Some progress is underway with the brewery.

I added some buildings down and altered the track work a bit to make operations easier

I also added a house in the small grass lot next to the grain elevator

I must say I have fallen in love with davesnow's H-10-44. Its such a good model with great sounds!

Stay tuned for more progress
