Thanks to N3V for restoring Forums...

Hi All
The forum/helpdesk servers did experience some issues on Sunday (AU EST, just as reference :) ). I generally check the forums, etc, on Saturday and Sunday mornings if I'm around, and when I found them offline (and after confirming with a few other Trainz users), I reported it to the admin at about 11:45am.

Unfortunately, it appears to have been an issue at our server host's end (who are in the US), and as such we had to wait for them to sort the issue out. In this case, it took a little longer than preferred.

However, we do monitor the forum over the weekend, so generally issues are picked up on fairly quick, and hence are fixed within a short time.

However, please understand that we are a relatively small company, and as such, if something does happen, a fix will not be 'instant'. It may take a few hours (or a day or so) to sort out, particularly over the weekend. We do try and do this as quick as possible, however I'm sure most people don't work 24/7 :)

Perfectly understood Zec. The small company with the landmark product at that. ;)

well, whatever the case, thank you for getting them back! serioulsy, i didn't know what to do with my life...I downloaded three huge routes i'll never use to fill the void (you think i'm kidding, i'm not...I have no life:hehe: :o)

Maybe us Trainz nuts need to start going outside when the sun is shining. :p :hehe: ;)

Regards.

I can vouch for Beyond Hosting, 100%. I have two domains and a hosting package with them. Reasonable pricing, great/fast customer service, and a lot more personable than your typical server hosts.

The 24/7 service is true 24/7 service indeed, not a "leave a message and we'll take care of it tomorrow". Anything that happens will be looked into and taken care of almost immediately.

They did it on purpose, I was in the middle of a screaming psychotic rant blazing away at NV3/Auran and all who sail in her when the page went blank. Now that the forum is back I can't remember what I wanted to gripe about, altho it probably had something to do with alzheimers. Which forum is this again?

Oh sniper...I think we need to get him stuffed in the smokebox of one of those PO&N C-41s...that'll clear his head!:hehe: :hehe: :D :D

It's dangerous out there man, I mean there's other humans & animals & all sorts of nasty non Trainz things. :hehe::)

Oh, I don't know. A Sunday lunch of Roast Chicken in the pub served by a fine looking young wench with a couple of pints of real ale, I wish the forums would go down more often, preferably on a Sunday.......:hehe::hehe:

Cheerz. ex-railwayman. :p

Don't forget the bears:o . Hit that with and train and if its still alive you better run for the hills. Btw glad are forms are back up to:) .

I assume that everybody who works at Auran/N3V goes home on Fridays. There should be someone working on weekends taking care of any computer problems.

Jeff,

I'm sure the poor IT guy is on-call 24 x 7 x 365. It's the usual deal for us IT guys!

For me 2010 was the first year I actually had a Christmas and New Year's holiday off. For the past 15 year prior, I was in the office over the long weekend holidays performing system maintenance, special backups, reboots, etc. New Years usually meant going in and running the business system re-config utility to setup the accounts and general ledger so the finance group could do the year-end reporting and start work on the new fiscal year.

You really really really don't wanna do that
It's dangerous out there man, I mean there's other humans & animals & all sorts of nasty non Trainz things. :hehe::)

It also means we have to interact with "other" people who may ask us to do non-Trainzy things like mow the lawn, take the family shopping, walk the dog, etc!:eek:

I think it's an absolute disgrace that the forums were down!

I'm just going to have to list all the earth shattering consequences of not being able to come on to the official Trainz forums:

1. ....

Erm. OK, thanks for getting them back online. *
