Thank you jcox7843 and welcome to Trainz.

You will find these forums to be an "Aladdin's Cave" of information, tips, problem solutions, news, etc, etc. The citizens that inhabit these forums do not always agree and will sometimes fight like cats and dogs over various issues - payware vs freeware, errors in DLS content, the FCT system, support for "legacy" versions of Trainz - to name just a few of the fights that have flared this year.

But regardless of the issue or your question, there is bound to be someone here who knows the answer or at the very least can provide a range of possible solutions.

Oh my, somebody that knows how to use search. A rare newcomer indeed.
Thank You jcox and welcome aboard!

I recently found Trainz and after hours of frustrating failures I made my way to the forums fearing the worst (as an EvE online player).

Just wanted to thank you for the useful tips and post some of the threads I found most useful:

and many many more

Welcome and prepare to kiss your free time goodbye. Yes, TRAINZ can be addicting. Personally I think 2010 is the best version to date. It has tons of built-in content and is extremely stable unless you are using a low end laptop.

I was just thinking that!

Yes, the ability to search is indeed a rare one. Personally, I blame it on N3V; that search button is quite clearly too small.:D

Welcome to the forums, Jcox, and may you spend many happy (and frustrating) hours learning the ins and outs of this program.

Matt.

jcox7483,I would like to introduce myself to you - I'm Shane, and as one of the veterans of this forum, I will attempt to help out if I can.

In addition to my forum threads, I also have a website with solutions to a few of the common problems.

As has been said above, you will soon find Trainz addictive, and that most of the forum members here are willing to help each other out with their issues (including me).

It is also wise to have a read of the Code of Conduct page, as this will help you avoid potential issues.

jcox7483,

Welcome to Trainz. There isn't much that can't be solved by posting a question here. And cudo's for learning to use the search feature right out of the chute.

... and I forgot to add that to the list of forum fights. Personally I think that TS12 is the best version yet but tomurban will obviously disagree.

Not totally. I just look at 2012 as the "light" version of 2010. NV3 took too much out of it including compatibility mode. I realize that was by design, but it should not have been implemented until most of the fixing of older content had been accomplished.
