Testing HostThenPost

I cannot see it, there is only a little icon and I can't open that either, I use kaspersky.
Given up looking at screenshots for now, cannot see half of them anyway.

I'm getting to that point also. Maybe Kaspersky is the common denominator? I find it odd however that an anti-virus program would allow 10% of an image to load before it declares the site unworthy. Any number of worms and trojans could slip in during that interval..

Loon Deane,

good to see you are back. We really thought you were lost in virtual space after your escapade in welcome's day.
Kaspersky remember I told you the russians are coming not that others are better but at least they speak native english lol.
I use for ages iolo System mechanic pro and works flawless with lot of goodies extra so maybe its time for a change.

btw yes we can see your truck stuck but not on our route Ning says....

have a great change of the day

Since jjanmarine3 is reporting the same problem with kaspersky, I think that narrows down the suspect. If there's a way to disable that I would try that and see if that's the problem.

There is a forum for kaspersky and I registered there, going to post the problem and see what comes out.
Another thought - Can it be infranview that is causing this perhaps ?

I brought my work computer home and connected it via my ISP.

It sees HostThenPost images OK.

That means my ISP isn't blocking things and points back to something amiss on my home computer. I feel like Sherlock Holmes...

At last some solid evidence. It is Kaspersky after all.

I turned Kaspersky off temporarily and could suddenly see the images from HostThenPost. Only task now is to restore the protection but to allow HTP images to be seen. Not sure how to do that.

The solution, according to Kaspersky's expert was not to simply tick or un-tick some setting, but to remove the entire installation of Kaspersky, download and install 170MB's worth of new Kaspersky 2013. A Russian sledgehammer to hit a nail, but it worked. I can now see screenshots from HostThenPost. Hoorah.

Oh yeah, I should have mentioned that. The new version was free for me (apart from using up 170 MB+ of my ISP account) since I still had 1 year to go on a 2 year license. When you're uninstalling the old version, it gives you an option to delete everything except your activation code. If you keep the code, it gets used automatically to activate the new version.

Still, I'd love to know why HostThenPost was blacklisted by Kaspersky in 2012 (a list that we can't see as far as I can tell) and deemed OK by the 2013 version.

Thanks for the info , I was told by Kaspersky to get 2013 as well but you beat me , I was afraid I would have to pay anew - these sites are so distracting and tricky and full of adverts I am skittish lately to dl stuff...
interesting about the blacklisting, I did not know that.

I know what you mean, you have to read about 3 sticky threads before you know what you're supposed to do. I didn't really beat you to it. I read the reply to your question on the Kaspersky forum and went from there. So thank you for posting that question, I don't think we could have found the solution without it. This had been bugging me for weeks.

Apparently we were not the only ones with this problem. It all started with "update k" for Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 in late october 2012. More information here.

Thanks.
Seems like Kaspersky have really hit their good name with a plank with this bug , quite a few peed off people there...
I am contemplating whether I should just wait things out and live with it for now, some of the guys have problems reactivating after uninstalling the 2012 version.

Yes, they certainly didn't cover themselves in glory did they. Perhaps they will learn from this experience - there is a lot of alternative security software out there and reputation is everything.

In terms of removing KIS 2012 and installing, activating and updating KIS 2013, I can only report it was completely painless. All done in a matter of minutes as I was watching the news on TV.
