Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum 2014: Go Big Or Go Home

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is going big at this years' Railfest. They're going to not only have Southern 4501 returning to steam, but also Southern 630 running, both taking turns pulling the Missionary Ridge Local. Also, Southern FP7 #6133 from the North Carolina Transportation Museum will be joining 4501 and 630 taking turns with hauling the Missionary Ridge Local. Plus, representatives from Norfolk Southern, Operation Lifesaver and Trains Magazine will be there. Also, Jessi Krebs, from the Chippewa Northwestern Railway Society will also be operating a 1/12th scale model of Southern 4501, called 'Little 4501'. Get your tickets now for this going to be one for the history books.

Well, one of the most memorable for me was back in 2011 when I first rode Southern 630. It was her second operating since her restoration and it was nuts! I've never seen that many people there before! Just about everybody there had a camera in their hand or were taking pictures with their smartphone. Come to think about it, the last time 630 was running, people were using cameras that used film. Now it's all SD cards or smartphone.
