Hello guys
I have been very busy building Trainz routs for myself. I have figured out how to make great turns without templates (hard) and other useful things. I did read tips and tricks for this stuff and it helped a lot but I didn't know enough to fully understand and remember all the tips. None-the-less I have worked hard to figure most things out myself and then read the tips again and make even more progress. Rinse-Repeat. Life is good. Until now.
I have started using the 90d 100 -400m template. And with it I have greatly improved many things. Along my latest rout I have a Zig-Zag winding track that goes up the side of a mountain. It was the first time I made such a track and I originally did the without templates. It worked, but it was ugly. So I went back to this track and deleted that section and started using the template to make great curves. It works awesome. Err mostly...
To line up the template with the existing track I need to line up the spline point markings on one end. To do that decently I need the template to be at a specific height. (201 meters) Then I move the template to line up to the existing track. But its a mountain so as I move the template it changes height making it very difficult to line up. Also to make matters worse, when I click on the template to move it, it "jumps" to center on the mouse. This makes walking the template onto the target impossible. After fiddling with it for some time I find that I just can't get the template to line up.
So I did some google foo, looking for a way to get objects/templates to stay fixed at a specific height. Turns out that either you can't or my google foo just isn't good enough.
Wich brings me to my question. How to you guys solve problems like this?
Thanks for your time.
