TC Competition?

Now that the 1st of March has gone could we not have expected an announcement of the winners of the TC route building competition? Have looked on the TC website and found nothing and in Auran announcements in these forums. After all the work competitors have put making routes, and the frustrations of trying to upload over the holiday period with DLS going wonky, I think we deserve not to be kept hanging around to hear the results.
There weren't such a large number of entries to delay the results being announced. If there is any delay could there be something said not just silence? The last thing said about the comp was "deadline extended".

I'd be willing to wager that you don't have any idea of the number of entries that were submitted..:p...I imagine it would take a while for a limited staff to give each entry a fair evaluation...

Not to be disrespectful, but I would rather they chuck the contest and spend time on helping those that cannot get CMP working , or on the sound issues !
I realize contributors have put in a great deal of time to win the contest, but I also think Auran can use their limited staff in many more important areas to satisfy more members !

This is not up for debate, Just my thoughts ---DLR

There are 19 TC routes on the DLS, and not all of them may be competition entries. That's not a huge number. If there is some delay for whatever reason, I think it's really only some kind of courtesy to the competitors to make some kind of announcement. Not just stunning silence. Whether or not the money could be better spent fixing DLS problems or whatever, Auran announced this comp people entered, the date for the announcing winners has gone and nothing from Auran. There are reasons in the rules that allow for a delay and if they apply it would be good to hear. I put in an entry, and a lot of work went it. Whether it wins or not isn't the point. It was fun building it, it isn't waiting around. The entries aren't judged by the staff but by "member of the Trainz community" whoever they might be.

I was going to point you towards this similar thread....

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=22853&highlight=competition

but then I noticed you've already posted in that too. :)

I couldn't say whether they intend to go ahead with the judging, but I do find it odd that someone couldn't take 30 seconds out of their busy schedule to let you know either way.

Does Auran still read the forums? (when not needing to put some P.R. out there I mean). :hehe:

Smiley.

Hilarious, Brian, thanks.

We haven't forgotten about the competition, and I am sure most here understand that schedules indeed may have changed considering Auran's recent upheavel.

We will of course P.R. you when we have some news. Thanks for your interest in the competition.

Schedules may have changed wouldn't it have been possible to have put that on the Auran Announcements Forum, we all aren't mind readers! So there is somebody out there......

I wonder how many would be entrants were not able to figure out how to upload their layouts in time?
Though not entering the contest, I tried uploading my first TC layout yesterday and failed after several hours of trying. I will get it eventually but my point still stands.

I want to be in the competition because I'm building the full LIRR!!

heaven7,
I realize you are a young man, but read the threads from the begining,
this competition started ages ago, then was extended due to problems with the upload server. Now the competitors are asking Auran for some results ! Maybe my hair will grow back, prior to Auran responding ? Could happen !!
And good luck with the full LIRR !

Cheers.

I think the point was that most people do understand the upheaval that recent events have caused, but a simple post weeks ago when it was first asked would have been the right thing to do.

A question about TC3 brings several community members who are working on it and the odd Auran staff member running and falling over themselves to answer the question and publicise TC3, yet questions about a competition using "older" Trainz Classics versions only gets noticed when enough noise is made by enough people.

If it seems like all I'm trying to do is bash Auran, then I'm afraid you're wrong.
Despite what I think of the TC series, my comments are always based on what I genuinely think, and this time it's based on how long it took to post and let these people know what's going on.
I've just posted this, and I've countless things to do, but I can spare 2 minutes. :hehe:

I guess I'm saying that maybe you should show the same enthusiasm and courtesy when there's no sales pitch to be made as you would when there is.

Now let's all have a group hug and put it all behind us. :hehe::hehe:

There could have been a fair few that missed out despite the weeks extension. I tried 5 or 6 times to upload my entry and only managed after Auran staff returned from break, when I figured that DLS might be working better.

Would it it be possible to have a list to see what layouts have been entered because I emailed Auran and really unsure if they got my email I also PM-ed Spaid about it and no reply from him/her either?

Mine is (<kuid:141830:1112>) I have also got a session (<kuid:141830:1111>) because I dought many people who are testing these layouts are from the UK...Also the session is needed for the traffic lights and other important stuff....

You emailed them? all emails go directly to the trash bin. you must use the web forum@ www.auran.com/helpdesk
The email for the comp wasn't helpdesk but trainzcomp@auran.com, I emailed that and got a reply from them that there was no such address, so emailed helpdesk, then got reply that they'd got my 1st email anyway! I realize all the problems at Auran have caused a lot of difficulties for staff and those that have lost jobs and community members. Stared this thread to stir the possum hoping that there might be some response from Auran because an earlier thread had been ignored.
