Taking screenshots

Hey carrwoodrr,

To take a screenshot, press the "Print Screen" key at the top right of your keyboard. Once done, open the directory where your Trainz installation is. (Like C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2006\)

Now find the "Screenshots" folder within. Inside should be all the screenshots you've taken. You'll need a program like IrfanView (which is freely downloadable) to convert the .tga files to jpeg. Then you can upload them to a place like photobucket or Imageshack.

Cheers,
John

It may be that for some reason you don"t have a Screenshots folder (this happened on my new PC).After clicking "Print Screen" open whatever photo editing utility you have e.g Adobe Photoshop.Click "Edit" then "Paste".Your Screenshot will then appear.Click "Save As" "Jpeg" and in size select "640 x 480" and select "My Pictures" then OK.Check your My Pictures folder to make sure the Screenshot is there. Then open whatever Image Hosting site you have (I use Photobucket) and click on "Browse".The IH site will open "My Pictures".Select the Thumbnail of the Screenshot you want and click "Select" then click "Upload".After a few seconds you"ll recieve a message "Images Uploaded" and the Thumbnail will appear in your Photo Album. On the left of the Thumbnail click "IMG Code" and a yellow panel "Copied" will appear.Open Trainz Screenshots then click "Reply".After typing your message click the mini thumbnail "Insert Image" just above the Message window .A window will open saying "Explorer User Prompt" with a message bar with "http://" greyed out.DELETE the "http" then right click on the vacant bar and click "Paste". The address of your screenshot will appear.Delete the first characters (IMG) so that it simply starts "http" and the last characters (/IMG) so that it ends "jpg". When you"ve done this click "OK" in Explorer User Prompt and a square of small squares will appear in your reply followed by your Screenshot.Click "Submit Reply" and its done.IF the square of squares has a Red Cross in it, DO NOT click "Submit Reply" - you"ve done something wrong and the Screeny will not appear. Practise this ad infinitum and then wait for the comments of admiration for your Shots--and wait, and wait and wait..

If you don't have a 'Screenshots' folder then create one in the TRS2006 folder. From then on when you press 'SysRq/PrtScn' (just one key) while in Trainz, that image will be saved to the 'Screenshots' folder. It will be in .tga format and will need to be converted to .jpg format for posting.

If you don't have a graphics program to do the conversion, there are freeware programs available, one of them is 'gimp' http://www.gimp.org

Cheers
