Taking Screenshots

Easy, just hit the Print Screen key, you will then find your pics in a folder named Screenshots inside your TRS2006 folder.

Remember to hit the F5 key before you take your shots as this will get rid of unwanted menus etc. on the screen.

Beware of Screenshots. Make them freely but keep track of them. They are TGA files, which are huge. Some are 5 megabytes or more. The other day, I noticed I had a lot of them I never looked at, but just left hanging around. I discovered they were taking more than a gigabyte of disk space. That can matter.

Recommend you convert them to JPEG or Bitmap files and keep them in your Pictures or other directory, or save them to a CD or DVD and clear the screenshots file periodically.

In don't care what the critics say, the easiest way to take screenshots is with IrfanView. It's a very small free program that can run in the background without taking up any memory. Just run IrfanView, choose screenshots form the options menu and IView minimises. Run Trainz in the normal way. When you see a great pic, hit CTRL-F11 (I mean that's hard!) and the screenie will be stored in the folder of your choice as a .jpg around 60 to 100kb. opposed to a TGA of several meg. You can then view and edit the screenies later with IrfanView.

For a full rundown of this fantastic little program, go to my old PCTutorials site. The menu isn't working properly so here are the links:
