T:ANE or TMR17 That is the question.

I have Trainz A New ERROR (which I am sorely disappointed with) and before I commit any more of my hard grafted income to Auran/NV3 I would like to know the differences between the two fore mentioned products.

Is TMR17 stable and at a secure release version or is it as buggy as T:ANE? (even the latest beta version has more bugs than my local rubbish dump)

Yes, I am bitter about T:ANE and unless the soon to be released SP2 HF1 solves the multitude of issues discovered by many users T:ANE will be the last version of Auran/NV3 products I purchase.

How ever if someone can convince me of the benefits and stability of TMR17 I may just change my mind.

What should one expect from TMR17 that would make me feel inclined to part with more cash? Is it yet another product that has not been fully developed and therefore not fit for user or is it actually an enjoyable product?

I am seriously considering purchasing another Railroad Sim from another company.

I love trains (The real beasts) and have driven (Yes driven) several locomotives (Both Steam 1952 Pecket and a Drury Diesel Mechanical) here in NZ. I was a driver of these for several years at our local Railway Club until an accident landed me in a wheelchair for life.

So back to my original question, What if anything is the difference between Trains A New Error and TMR17?

Salutations to all.

AFAIK TMR2017 is the same code base as TANE, just a different content set for the target audience. Version wise, originally it was ahead of TANE when it stood at the excellent SP1 HF4 but not sure where it is in terms of version number now, during the ongoing saga of SP2 and the ever continuing attempts to address a hotfix.

Other than the asset collection, TMR made no change or concessions to how the programme works to deal with the specific needs of creating a model railway so you can pretty much do anything model railway wise in TANE with the relevant assets from the DLS, you just won't have those routes and motive power/rolling stock that shipped with TMR.

I have both, and I am going to say that if you sorely disappointed with TANE then you will be sorely disappointed with TMR17. I think they are basically the same product packaged differently. I got TMR17 so I could get the new routes and content, which also work in TANE. You may want to look into whether your system is up to speed for TANE also before considering TMR17 also, if TANE is bad TMR17 will be the same.

I have no major issues with the current version of TANE (SP2 build 88364) and TMR17, they both work great. I no longer use TS12 because of the way it crashes and looses and / or corrupts my routes occasionally. TANE is a far more stable product for me now.

TMR2017 is T:ANE SP2, but with an added emphasis on Model Railroads. That's it. It's pretty much T:ANE 2. Needless to say, if you didn't like T:ANE at all, you won't like TMR2017 at all.

Also note that with TANE SP2 you would have to purchase any routes that come standard in TMR17, they are compatible but each "layout" has to be purchased separately and can add up...I have both TANE an TMR17 but enjoy TMR17 more because of the layouts and mrr angle, I use anther sim for my "non-mrr" experience...................

I just bought TMR17 on Halloween Sale price for those same reasons stated by Railhead above. definitely worth the $10 IMHO.
