Modeling Snow Hill Station in T:ane, a number of Mechanical Route Indicators were used around the site both Gantry and Platform.

Crisaw (Christopher Whiting) has splendid examples with 3 way indicators, but to be authentic I would need to change the displays on the route boards.
Having looked at the configuration files, there is no way I, with my very limited knowledge, can achieve this.

I have asked Cris by PM for his advice and possible help. In the meantime is their anybody who can either help me out with this or suggest alternatives.

Seasonal Greetings to all,

Regards,

Forgive the late reply - I've been in an internet-free zone for a while.

I've modified many of Chrisaw's route indicator signals for use in my own routes, getting the display board to show things like "yard", "[named] siding", "platform [no.]", "post depot" and so forth. If you have photoshop or another image editor that includes a paint brush and a text-entry tool, it's easy to do this by cloning the signal you want to use then painting out the existing route board text (with white paint) then replacing it with the text you desire, in the rib.tga file. You need to get the text size right to fit on the board and, for one of the options, the text needs to be turned through 90 degrees. (See the tga file when opened in your image editor).

Of course, routes containing such cloned signals need to remain private unless you can persuade Chrisaw to allow you to upload such a cloned signal. I've often thought about doing so (asking him I mean) but never got to the point where any of my routes feel good enough to post to the DLS, so the issue remains moot for me......

If the route indicator texts you want could be used more widely than just Snow Hill, perhaps Chrisaw would consider doing a few? Of course, this would be to gimmepig at the lad! :-)

Lataxe.

Hi Lataxe,
Chris replied to my PM and set me straight on changing the indicated routes , which I managed in paint.net without any problem. I then asked about uploading as part of the finished project to which Chris replied that he could not give permission as he makes the signals under "licence" using blodnook scripts.
However he, (Chris splendid gentleman), very generously kindly offered to make the signals for me.

A very satisfactory outcome from my point of view.
I sincerely thank you Lataxe, for your time and trouble in making your reply to me, although the meaning of your Lancashire slang is not undestood.

Kind Regards
John P.
