Anyone know where the T:ANE SP1 screenshot folder is? I just took some screenshots on Avery-Drexel and the Hinton Division. I've looked in the main T:ANE install folder, and nothing.

It should be in your 'userdata' folder(Which you can find it in trainz settings like this:

)

And for this case, the screenshot folder is in d:\N3V Games\TANE\build dy8qa3ku1\screenshots

I hope this may help

I also agree. If these pictures displayed where you can buy T:ANE, I think there would be more sales.
They also aren't helped by the not so good looking Kickstarter County as a centerpiece with most displayed locomotives having extremely low texture resolutions.

SP1 is great but.....

Can one of you gents or ladies do a screenshot with the following settings:

  • time: dead of night
  • a locomotive with high-beams on
  • a distinctive scenery item directly lit by the high-beams
  • POV from object towards locomotive

I did some shots yesterday and it looked like objects, lit by other than global lighting, did not cast shadows, and I want to eliminate that "Maybe it is just me" feeling. I am away from my work station at the moment, but will post them here as an edit.

Thanks

No, you're absolutely correct. We don't currently shadowcast except from the sunlight. Shadowcasting is expensive and with the possibility of any number of other lights in the scene, performance would be very poor if they all cast shadows. We have plans to review this in the future when hardware performance is a little greater and when some other engine capabilities come online which will help reduce the cost of multiple lights.

Thanks for clearing that up Chris, even if it takes some of the fun out the bystander perspective when playing night-time scenarios. I prefer watching/despatching the trains, rather than actually driving them, and to do scenic screenshots. So, I guess I will stick to daytime/dusk scenarios until you come up with a solution. :D From the cab POV it doesn't matter, so obviously that is the logical priority.
