Surveyor lags then crashes... help

I'm working on a route through Ithaca, NY and I started out doing very detailed scenery for approximately a mile then realized I should probably set the track and terrain first. Ever since I started doing that by creating a new blank route then merging it with the existing I have gotten up to about 2 miles and it is causing the surveyor to be really slow or lagging. This last time I tried creating a new blank route to merge it has caused the program to crash twice. Any ideas or hints?

Only 2 things I can think of, are the assets you've used compatible with 2012.
Is your computer powerful enough to cope with the load.
Either may cause a crash.

Maybe I am reading you wrong but to extend the route don't create new boards and merge, add boards to your existing route. Near the bottom of the Terrain Tab is button which allows you to add new boards by 'clicking' over the edge where you want the new board to appear.

Surveyor crashes are generally content related. Could be one specific piece of bad content, could be too much content, or could be a known issue with SpeedTrees in Surveyor if you have a lot of them.

Fixes are reduce content, find the bad content (not always easy although 'Developer Settings' 'Surveyor Stats' in main menu 'Options' can be a big help). If you suspect SpeedTrees are the issue, reduce wind speed to minimum in Surveyor Main Menu 'Environment Settings'. That might help...

Thanks

I figured there was an easier way to add onto a route but I am really new to Trainz. Put off joining in hopes of MSTS 2 being released, but really happy with this sim. Thanks for the help guys.
