Stumped by a signal

Here Goes -

Road engine goes out on job and returns with several flatcard of lumber. Pulls into assigned freight yard track. Stops, uncoulples and pulls away, heading for the roundtable in preparation for next run. Upon arriving at roundtable, road engine triggers a yard switcher to go retrieve the lumber cars and deliver them to the seaport. Here comes the problem. When yard switcher tries to enter the track where lumber cars are sitting all signals are red. I have rebuilt this junction about 6 times now and no change. Noob flash of the day - lumber cars on track will get you a bunch of red signals true or false.

Is there a way to get the signals to at least go to yellow so I can get to the lumber cars?

Note: All trains movements are under AI control

Hi d55baron. The signals are suppose to to stay red. Simply add the command "couple to" to the switcher and it will ask for permission to approach the train on red for coupling. You can specify the particular wagon to couple or you can add a trackmark and use the command "couple at trackmark". Which is what I do most of the time.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

There are a couple of driver commands will get it done. Couple to vehicle facing trackmark or couple to vehicle facing signal. Search the DLS for username atilabarut for lots of very helpful commands...

I have never really had a problem just using the built in "Couple To" command. There is always a small pause while the AI waits to gather it's thoughts before proceeding past the red light to couple up.

"Couple to", "couple at track mark" and the variety of commands works fine except that after pausing a little, they speed the loco and the coupling is rather violent. I wish that there is some delicate approach to couple.. Anyhow, that is the easy solution to above problem.

sometimes when the 'couple to' rule doesn't work the best way is to turn the signal round so it only controls outgoing,
cheers,
Mike
