Strange Spine Car Problem

Stuck With a Bad Username
Hello all,

While using the 57' spine cars made by socalwb909 (you can find them HERE ), I have ran into a strange problem with them. I started a thread over at USLW on this matter, and figured I'd start one here as well in order to double my chances at finding out what on earth is wrong with them.

Here is the nature of my problem. For whatever reason, whenever I load the cars, the retractable hitch stays up, but only when the loading box is open, as seen in this picture:

Then, when I close the loading box, the hitch returns to the down position, as shown here:

However, the retracting hitch issue does not occur with the 40ft COFC Trailers, as shown here:

I am using Trainz 2010, Build Number 3.1

I have not been able to find a fix to this problem. I talked to Joe (the creator of them), and he was unable to duplicate the problem I was having. I searched the forums for a remedy, and came up empty. This problem is not causing the game to crash, but it has gotten extremely annoying, and I'm dead-set on getting it fixed.

Could someone please instruct me on what needs to be done to correct this issue?

Thanks in advance for any and all help that any of you can provide!

Best Regards,

-Ace:)

If the creator can't duplicate the problem then it might be something to do with your Trainz version being out of date. The "TS2010 and build 3.1." you have given don't match as build tag 3.1 is TS 2009 SP1, can you check the build version number (5 digits), it's on the bottom right of the first menu screen you get when you start TS2010. The latest build is 49938 - which includes the multiplayer beta but build 43434 should be OK.

Thanks for the response itareus!

My build number is Build 42203. I tried just a little bit ago to patch, but it said that it could not find the patch file, or something of that sort.

It probably is that my build is out of date. I'd attempt to patch, but the last and only time I attempted to do so, the power blinked off (I left it to install overnight). I had to reinstall, and I do not own backup power device (at least that is what I think it is called). I've got plans to upgrade to TS12, so maybe that will fix the problem.

However, the build tag for the spine cars is 2.9 (which I believe is TS2009). Plus, as I said, the hitch problem IS NOT present with the 40ft COFC loads. So, I'm beginning to wonder if it is just a script error. Regardless, I just hope I can get this issue remedied soon. It is starting to drive me nuts

quackers,
no guarantee it'll cure it, it doesn't I just checked one of my consists. Here's a link for the patch to build 44088 (non multi player). Try it if you want.

http://download.ts2009.com/patch/42203_to_44088.exe

Remember once you start leave it alone at all costs or you'll corrupt your install even though you think it's stopped. Allow 2-3 hours.

i see Joe has passed this to me and you sent a PM so i will answer here. the problem you are describing doesn't have anything to do with the animation, and it isn't a scripted (from our end) effect. far as i remember Joe set these to use the standard load animation feature in the config. in other words it functions just like a visible coal load or similar.

Bearing in mind what fran1 and ns have posted, if the version update does not help then it may be worth checking that your rules & script assets are up to date.

Seems like they load the same as they would be if they were static scenery ie the legs don't lift.
I've noticed the legs in mid air but not bothered about it. You could (with a few skills in creation) remove the legs and alter the spine car config to accept that load.
