STILL WAITING FOR MY TRAINZ

I posted a money order to Auran sometime in December last year (2008) for my items and I'm still waaaiiiitinnnng... I ordered a copy of TRS 2009, plus the SP1 for 2009, a copy of Trainz Collection 3, which includes the four add on routes for TC3, and Paintshed that can be used with TRS09, and still have not recieved them...

I later checked with my local post office here in Port Lincoln and was told that the money order had been cashed at a branch of NAB (Nat Australia Bank in Brisbane, so somehow, someone has recieved the MO and cashed it, yet I am still awaiting my order.

I rang Auran earlier this week using The Sol Whatshisname Telecomunication Co (Telstra) and they could not find the Auran No, but the nearest thing they could find in the Brisbane Phone Directory was Auran Electrical... So what has become of our Auran Software?

Correction... i referred to Trainz Collection above, but I think that should read Trainz Classics 1, and I know theat there is a Trainz Classics 3, known as TC3...

In the meantime while I was in Adelaide, I bought a copy of Trainz Collection 1, the first edition, which includes UTC, TRS 2004, Paintshed, and TRS 2006, but this being a rather dated pack now, I had to make best do with it, and o have chosen to use TRS 2004, but while I can make Paintshed items, I cannot load very many downlaods or extractions from those downloads that i now have saved onto a CD, though I did get a few come through.

Second or third question, how do I get the 4 bonus routes to come through and be usable in 2004?, or is that not possible with that version of 2004 build 2370?.

I have rejected TRS 2006, because once again, I get the same kind of problems with it as I have with all other copies of TRS 2006 I have bought previously, "Unable to Register Trainz URL" and the one about "You Do Not Have A Valid Serial No, Please Check With Planet Auran to makes sure you have the correct serial no." error that keeps poppiing up when you go to use the Content Manager.

Once again I have to ask, why are we having to put up with problems like this in what would normally be a much better and more up to date version ot Trainz?... I still cannot understand why I, and so many others are still getting lumbered with this very annoying and frustrating problem, which in actual fact prevents us from getting our downloaded assets working, and it also means that even if we change our engine sounds, bogeys, and horn sounds and all other chosen characteristics, they will not take effect while we keep getting these two error messages cropup.

I didn't expect TRS 2004 to work under Vista, but it does, however the only extra assets I can use on it in Trainz Collection 1, are the paintshed items I create....

which brings me to another question, where are my paintshed assets stored? In the old TRS 2004, all your layouts and paintshed assets or creations were stored in World/Custom/Trainx, but it now appears to me that they end up being stored in Trainz/bin as something like paintshed.ja... yet when I go to 'bin' I cannot find them in there, and i want to save them to a CD like I can with all other versions of TRS. Where do I find them, and how can I get in and extract the items I want to save to a CD? ie 'G&W covered hopper' created in Paintshed... as the version of TRS 2004 we get in Trainz Collection 1, is different to the orignal TRS 2004, in that the directories are different... there is no Custom/Trainx, or World/Maps

Auran & the Cone of Silence

That's because it is no longer listed, and when you do phone the numbers that were listed. . ., however Auran Games Pty Ltd is still registered as a business - and at the moment, a lack of service!

Auran, we strongly believe that the members need at least some reply, instead of this "Cone of Silence."

Hi Bushymo
In regards to your order, if you send the order number to the helpdesk I will look into this as soon as I am able to.

Now, I'm curious as to how you bought SP1 for TS2009, as this isn't listed in the shop as far as I can tell. I do remember TRS2006 having SP1 on CD available though.

For the 4 extra routes. Do you mean the Trainz Routes 4 pack?

TC3 (Trainz Classics 3) doesn't have any add-on packs.

And PaintShed for TS2009? As far as I know there isn't one.

For the 4 Trainz Routes packs. These are for TRS2006 only. The installer will only install into TRS2006.

For TRS2004. The location for content hasn't changed. Any content that you make in paintshed will end up in the world/custom/ folder (in a sub folder of that of course).

Thanks
Zec

You must mean TRS2006 since a January 22, 2009 post by you indicated you hadn't purchased 09 yet.....you need to contact helpdesk with clear information about what your problem is. Judging by your pasts posts, clarity is not a strong suit...

MAYBE NOT THE GENUINE TRAINZ COLLECTION PACK

I meant to say that it was Trainz Collection I bought, which includes UTC, TRS 2004 and 2006 plus Paintshed for 2004 and yes I do know that TC3 is a latter edition, which I don't have.

the only things I see in the TRS 2004 World/Custom is Custom, and Displacements. Neither Trains nor Maps appear, even when I have created assets in Paintsehed or created another layout... I go to look there and have done so several times, but they are not there.

I bought this particular copy from EB (Electronics Boutique in Westfileld Marion... I don't know if EB are in any other capital city other than Adelaide, but this appears to be an Adelaide franchise with several stores being set up in Adelaide. They did have TRS 2009, but I didn't buy that because for one thing, it was priced at $89, and the other thing... I hoped and expected that by the time I had arrived home again, a package containing TRS 2009 would be down at the local post office for me to collect, and a notification card in my letterbox. but No!...

I don't know who is producing these versions of TRS, because Auran would have all the directories correct... this copy of Trainz Collection has exactly the same steam locomotive on the cover as has the Auran Trainz Collection, - that's the sepia coloured steam locomotive with Trainz Collection printed on it and it looks exactly the same as the one in the Auran Shop...

One thing I did notice was that the serial numbers were printed rather poorly on the three disks that came in the pack, and I had a job to pick some of the letters and numbers to type in, ie. it was almost impossible to pick the difference between a '6' and a 'B'.

No Paintshed for 2009

No Zac, I have ordered one, but the only thing I have bought recently is this Trainz Collection Pack that I have described above, which I am starting to doubt is an authentic Auran pack, but one of these that have been repressed or produced for another country, like the TRS 2006 pack that I bought three copies of back some couple of years ago with the red cover, that were actually a UK kind of pack... this looks like another Auran 'Look Alike Pack' that you would swear that looks like the real thing but when you go to use it, you realize that you have been 'taken for a bit of a short trip' (somehow duped)

In my order, I had...TRS 2009, Trainz Classics, SP1 for 2009, and Paintshed that would work with both 2006 and 2009, which would be the one that you get to use with TRS 2006. because the Paintshed that I had on the Genuine Auran Pack that I recieved from Auran, refuses to work at all, and when you go to use it, it just stalls, and all you get is the blue background, and all of the function areas like Painter, Save, Logo, and Text come up as black rectangles... Everytime I went to use paintshed in TRS 2006, I had to restart my computer.

I found that the only way out of that was to use the Paintshed for 2004, that I had downloaded that did work with 2006, but it tended to clash with the Paintshed for 2006, and some very odd things began happeneing, so I never really got much satisfaction out of 2006 itself, in that I kept on getting the 'Unable to Register Trainz URL error message when opeining up Trainz Content Manager, and then I would get the other event cropping up all the time that told me that "Trainz is unable to find a correct serial number, check with planet auran to make sure you have all your details filled in, and this happened regardless of the fact that I had already registered my trainz TRS 2006 serial number for the copy I recieved from Auran, at Planet Auran...

Paintshed for 2006 was also rendered totally useless, so eventually I disgarded TRS 2006, and dsposed of it...I just gave up trying to get any real proper lasting satifsaction out of it...

For a while even before I had registered it with Planet Auran. I was able to change the engine and horn sounds for TRS 2006 in Content Manager, but then came the time after I had registered it with Planet Auran, everything like that just totally shut up on me and I could no longer change the engine and horn sounds etc... and I just sat and shook my head in total confusion.

For some reason all the usable and changeabe features of it just locked up similar to what happens to Shareware software if you don't register it, or get the serial number from the vendors...

I hoped that when I recieved TRS 2009, that I would not have all this trouble... but in the interim, the only thing I could use was the train sim itself, but none of the other things like Paintshed or the Content Manager were usable once I had registered it with Planet Auran...

I was just left totally puzzled...

I am running Windows Vista. and using different versions of Vista on the two laptops I have, one has Vista Business. and the other has Vista Home Premium.

The only reason I bought Trainz Collection was so that I could at least run some trainz on my laptops while I am waiting for my copy of TRS 2009, and thought that for the time being the Trainz Collection pack with the three previous trainz editions would at least see me through.

One thing I did notice was that the serial numbers were printed rather poorly on the three disks that came in the pack, and I had a job to pick some of the letters and numbers to type in, ie. it was almost impossible to pick the difference between a '6' and a 'B'.

You may have a bogus copy of "Trainz Collection". I got mine direct from Auran and the cd codes are on labels stuck to the inside if the cd box. Labels should never be stuck onto discs.

I bought this particular copy from EB (Electronics Boutique in Westfileld Marion... I don't know if EB are in any other capital city other than Adelaide
Yes they do exist in other cities/towns.

Bushymo, since you brought your product from Electronics Boutique, and you believe you may have problems with the item (such as faults, wrong item in packet, etc), then it IS the seller's responsibility, and you take it to the seller. If you brought it direct from Auran, then Auran would be responisible. (see edit)

In your case, Auran is NOT the seller. Your state's Department of Fair Trading (or whatever name it is called in South Australia) will have documents stating something along the lines “Don't be mislead by retailers into thinking it is the manufacturers responsibility, and that you have to take it back to the manufacturer.”

If the item is faulty, you have the option of repair, replace OR REFUND, (however refunds aren't normally given if you change your mind - although Toys R' Us state they do)

Therefore Bushymo, if it's within the warranty period, you need to go back to the place of purchase, and let them know about your issues.

EDIT: I've just forget that you paid for a game direct from Auran (as stated in your first post), and you have yet to recieve your product - In that case, then Auran IS responsible, and if the wait is too long, then you can lodge a complaint with fair trading under "failure to supplier goods within a reasonable amount of time."
If you are waiting too long, and you then wish for a refund, due to a lengthy wait, then a company (& that includes Auran if brought from them), is obliged to give a refund. And any "letter of demand" sent to a company, and you ask them to reply within a certain amount of time, then that company MUST reply within that time frame you asked for.

As I said previously. Please send a message to the helpdesk. You will need to send a new one if you sent one was before April 4th 2009. If you send the message to the helpdesk, with the order number, I will be able to look into it for you, and we will attempt to sort this out.

Thank you

Checking on my order

Thanks Zec, I am on my way over there now, though last time I went to use the Helpdesk it was down for some reason...:)

...........................
Just been to Helpdesk Zec, and have described what has been the problems, both with my order and with what the problems I was having with my previous copy of TRS 2006, and have submitted the posting there, I don't know if it went through or not, because the text I put in disappeared after I clicked on 'Submit' and my hour was nearly up on the public computer... so I had to be very quick in putting the details in...I looked to check and see if it had been successfuly posted, but my time ran out... Thanks Zec....

Thanks Red Rattler... the only reason I bougth it was because I was stilil waiting for my copy of TRS 09, but I have posted to the helpdesk to find out what has happened with it. the Trainz Collection pack I bought was $29, and it had three disks in it, and i thought...This will at least keep me playing trains until my proper TRS 09 arrives...
They did have TRS 09 but that was priced at $89, and I left it there and just bought the cheaper pack to make do with, because it had the old popular TRS 2004 on it, which despite its anceintness compared with TRS 09, I still feel that the old faithful 2004 still stands the test of time, and at least you don't get these 'Unable to register trainz URL' and Check with Planet Auran to make sure your serial number and details are corect like you keep getting when you use the CMP in the latter TRS's 06 and 09,
That has to be the most annoying and frustrating parts of ths two latter editions of TRS...

After a while and despite having registered my last copy of TRS 2006 with planet Auran, the whole CMP shut down on me and even though it came ujp, any changes I tried to make to the engine and horn sounds etc, didn't take effect like they normally should, and the program began to behave like one of those silly shareware progams if you have not regisetered your serial number or got the serial number key from the vendor, in that part of the program became useless, and Paintshed simply siezed up when I went to use it, all it kept getting was all the functions like Logo, Text, etc, just appear as black rectangles with nothing in them.... I eventually gave up and tossed my TRS 2006 out... It just became a lame duck program on me,,, I was left totally puzzled, so I have posted to the help desk on that

Hi,
I bought the Trainz Collection from EB Games about 12 mths ago. I ordered through Marion store but they were unable to get it at the time and sent me to Seaford store, cost was $39.95. The serial number stickers were fixed to the back of the Cd case. I had no trouble running all that was on the three disks. I gave 2006 away because of the poor sound, CMP troubles and constant crashing. I have been using the 2004 with no great problems. I did find that Paintshed for 2004 took ages to load, actually comes up as not responding. I just wait and it loads and works ok, but if you click at all it will freeze permanently.
Mine has N3V Publishing on the back of the box.

Cheers,
Mike

They did have TRS 09 but that was priced at $89

I think either you mis-read the price ticket, or Electronics Boutique are on a major ripoff mission.
Auran sell the box version of TRS09 for $29.99 USD, this converts to just $36.86 Australian, so $89 is daylight robbery that Ned Kelly would have been proud of. :'(

Add Howards "never ever a GST while the coalition are (now were) in power" (the right-wing media deliberately leave the red part out). This state tax collected by the federal government adds 10% so it should be around the $AU40 - 45 mark.

FIRST THINGS I NOTICED

In tresponse to Stationbeem, yes! one of the first things I noticed about my EB copy was that the printing of the serial numbers on the labels on the disks was rather poor, and that I had to get a magnifying glass to read some of the letters and digits in them.

The second thing I noticed was when I went to look in the diirectory for Custom/World/Trains, and 'Maps' neither of these were in the TRS 2004 directory as is usually the case with all Auran copies of TRS 2004. I did have a copy of the Auran TRS 2004 a few years ago, and know exactly where these items are in the TRS 2004 directory and are very familiar with the proper Auran directory listings, but on looking in the same place for the very same directory items on this EB type copy, none could be found, and Yes! they were very noticable by their absence...

I have therefore also noticed that when you delete this version of TRS 2004, and then re-install it, everything that you have created, either as a personal layout, or Paintshed items, they are still stored in some mysterious location on your computer somewhere, but when you do a search to see where on your computer these items (that should normally be in Custom/World/Trains), they are not in any directory at all, but somehow still remian on your computer, which in some way is good, in that normally if you uninstall TRS 2004, you lose them... but the big problem is, that if you wanted to store these creations of yours onto a CD, to later transfer them to TRS 2006 ..or 2009, there is no way you can even locate them to copy them to a CD...

It may also mean that in future if you do purchase the genuine Auran copy of TRS 2009, you would have to clean your computer hard drive down, to get rid of any unwanted traces of this bogus version of TRS 2004, or 2006, that comes on this copy of Trainz Collection, that also consists of UTC, the four bonus layouts,...and Paintshed for 2004, which I might say does at least work far better than the Painthed I have had with 2006, that just siezes up whenever I went to use it in TRS 2006 (which I have described on another posting) - It (Paintshed in TRS 2006, just seizes up and refuses to budge whenever I went to use it in TRS 2006) which was one of the reasons why I dispoaed of TRS 2006...

THE CORRECT PRICE

Oh Yes! Blackwatch, They had TRS 2009 priced at $89 so I left it there, I know that Auran have it for $29, and thought this price (being charged by EB)was rather rich ... and over the top... I had no intention of buying it at that price and I am glad now that I left it right where I saw it
I have to wonder if what I have ended up with may have been pirated?... It does raise a few questions....
I asked if they had TRS 2009, but when I saw the price... I said.."No! I'll just take Trainz Collection, that was priced at $29.,
This copy of Trainz Collection has me wondering where it really came from before it hit the shelves of EB...Maybe EB don't realize they have been conned by some backyard prrator, who has passed them off as being genuine Auran games, and have also realized that the vendor or producer of these copies have bluffed EB into believing them to be bone fide.... I have to wonder where this copy of Trainz Collection reallly came from... It has the Auran logo on it, but I am sure iti is not a genuine Auran game... Something obviusly looks a bit suss...and as one forum member here has informed me, the serial numbers for all Auran games is adhered to the inside fo the pack itself, not on the disks, and the quality of the printing from Auran is clear and easy to read, these serial numbers are not clear and are very hard to read... you have to look hard with a magnifying glass to pick the difference between a '6' and a 'B' or a 'C; or a 'G'.... i got the serial number wrong several times before I got the installation to advance to the next stage

You titled this post "First Things I Noticed" (Oh & by the way, their is no need to write titles & sub-headings in all capitals.)

In tresponse to Stationbeem, yes! one of the first things I noticed about my EB copy was that the printing of the serial numbers on the labels on the disks was rather poor, and that I had to get a magnifying glass to read some of the letters and digits in them.
Bushymo, did you notice this before or after you paid for it?

Oh Yes! Blackwatch, They had TRS 2009 priced at $89 so I left it there, I know that Auran have it for $29, and thought this price (being charged by EB)was rather rich ... and over the top...
So did you let them know it was overpriced, and/or that you can buy the exact same item elsewhere?

Something obviusly looks a bit suss...and as one forum member here has informed me, the serial numbers for all Auran games is adhered to the inside fo the pack itself, not on the disks, and the quality of the printing from Auran is clear and easy to read
Have you got a photo of the front cover of the game box? And without saying the serial number, is their a serial number on the back of the instruction book, or for that matter, does it include an instruction booklet?
