I have tried everything i can think of, to get this trainz 06 to run error free but it's getting the point that it's not worth the time. I have tried everything but it still crashes and I keep getting fatal error's? WHAT IS CAUSING THIS? It ran fine when i installed it the first time and all I have done is downloaded a few locomotives and a route and now it won't even launch.:'( :'( I have since reinstalled the game and yet I still get the same FATAL ERROR's.
There's nothing else i can think of to do.:(

Hello

Trainz and CMP Freezing Tips - This problem is caused by a software or hardware issue's on your PC.

Hello

1. What version of Trainz have you got running on your PC?.
2. Trainz and CMP recommended ram is 2gb to run smoothly or more stable on your PC, min is 1gb of ram and make sure no other programs are running in the background.
3. What version of windows have you got on your PC, if vista make sure Trainz is installed as an administrator on your PC.
4. Have you ran Trainzdiag? to see if your PC passes all tests to run Trainz: C:\Program Files\Auran\TC\Bin\TrainzDiag
5. Have tried deleting the assets.tdx and assets.bku files? so CMP will re-build the Trainz assets database: C:\Program\Files\Auran\TC\assets.tdx and C:\Program Files\Auran\TC\Cache\assets.bku
6. Have you got Microsoft .NET Framework installed on your PC?.
7. To disable sounds in CMP: In CMP go to file then settings then miscellaneous tab then tick disable sounds in CMP.
8. Have you got the latest video card drivers installed for your Graphics card?, recommended Graphics cards are ATI or Nvidia with a min of 256mb ram.
9. Is Trainz giving you fatal errors? fatal errors are caused by a number of things: Faulty content, Scripting errors, Software configuration or Faulty hardware, threads on Fatal Errors link here and also here.
10. You still can't get CMP or Trainz working then list your PC Spec here.
11. CMP or Trainz still not working for you?, must be a problem with your Trainz installation, you may need to re-install Trainz again. Once you have uninstalled Trainz and rebooted your PC it is handy to use a registry cleaner to remove any remaining entries for Trainz in the Windows Registry, try CCleaner: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ and then reinstall Trainz.
12. Still no joy in getting CMP or Trainz working: must be a hardware or another software issue on your PC.

Regards

Ahsan:)

Not something wrong with TRS06 then? Really this seems to be the stock reply. You need 2gb of ram to run TRS, sorry but I'm running TRS on 1gb. This is what's recommended for TC1/2 not the minimum. This would be the same for TRS2006. Or are Auran putting the wrong specs on the back of their boxes? Surely not? TRS2006 is prone to not opening after adding even only one downloaded item. This has nothing to do with computer specs, other software installed, or any of these other excuses that are rushed out whenever anyone has problems with Auran products. These products often don't run as they should because they were not properly tested before release.

Hello Willblunden,

I will say that Trainz 2006 will run with 1G of memory. I used to run Trainz 2006 with 512mb of memory and was pretty happy.

When I upped it to 1G of memory, there was a difference, but not an extreme difference. There is difference if you don't turn off firewall and antivirus.

I am also running Trainz Railwayz (Same as Classics 1&2) with 1G. And I also found that downloading a new Loco and running it can give Trainz 2006, anyway, a big lockup and mess it up. (I had to reinstall Trainz). I have completely given up doing this for a while!

I still enjoy Trainz 2006 and the Classics 1&2, but I have installed them on a computer without a modem, and so I do not run a firewall, anti-virus and so on. This is kind of drastic, but I'm happy (for now).

These advices given by Ahsan, I think are very good. Fatal errors by faulty scripting and faulty content I am very willing to believe, since one stupid locomotive screwed me up so badly.

Still. the Trainz software is about the best we can get to run on our home computers right now. I do believe that. Take care. Bob P.

Hello

What I meant was Trainz runs more stable or smooth with 2gb of ram especially CMP when it chokes up all your PC resources in the background depending on your PC specification and yes I agree Trainz will run with 1gb of ram and I've had it run fine with 1gb in the past.:)

Dear ACE17,

It's always nice to see a happy person!

It's always nice when Trainz is running well!

Isn't life just grand? .... (I still have this mental phobia about downloaded Locos, especially in Zipped files).

Life is grand! Tra-la, tra-la !!! Bob P.

A lot of problems are caused by faulty content, problem is there's no way to check until added to game. Most recent DLS and TPR stuff is error free. At the moment am moving assets from 2004 to TC and finding that older some older items are faulty about 20%. Only worth fixing what I really want to keep. Have also found that some built in assets from TRS2006 when moved to TC show errors too. When I had TC3 installed I moved 2 locos from 2006 UP Big Boy and CN U2g, both were faulty and crashed the game, but both work OK in TC1&2, figure that one out. If you want a stable game probably TC1&2 is better than TRS2006

I kinda figured there was some kind of faulty file's in the game it's self. Will disabling those two faulty assests help with the problem? How can I detect faulty assests. I know the diag test don't help.

Thanks,
Landon
