Steam Engine Sideview Drawings

Hardcore Steam Breather
I notice that when a lot of people begin building train, especially steam engines, in gmax, they use a highly detailed side drawing of the engine they're making, like these.

NOTE: THESE ARE NOT MY CREATIONS!!! THE ENGINE IN THE SECOND PICTURE IS BY KLINGER, NOT ME.

I'm curious as to where all of these are found. I believe i am capable of making my own for the engines I want to make, but having complete precision for a specific real steam engine would be nice. Thanks for any information.

Locomotive Cyclopedia? is that a book or a website? the reason I ask is because I'm going to start on Southern Pacific's narrow gauge #9 soon and I would like some accurate diagrams of the engine. Otherwise, I'll just wait for my next trip to Bishop and take some detailed pics of the engine itself.

The Locomotive Cyclopedia is a book and not a cheap one at that. You'll find links to thousands of drawings in the Trainz Resources Directory.

Many aren't as detailed as we would like, but that's life.

If you know anyone who has old copies of Model Railroader Magazine between the 60's and 70's, every issue had wonderful detailed drawings.
