Station Building

Can anyone point me to a tutorial about in-depth station building? I'm kind of stuck on setting up overpasses. I'm sure there's some way of customizing overpasses/footbridges but I can't seem to adjust the height of the stairs properly. There're probably some more snags I'll run into later on (this is my first attempt at a serious layout) but for now I'm just stuck on the station(s).

Re station building

I can't point you to a tutorial but I have two hints which may help:

1. Make sure your station area is absolutely level. Using the topography/use height setting, enter a height and then everywhere you use the plateau tool will be the same height.

2. You may know this already, but holding down the shift key while adjusting object height allows finer height increments when adjusting the height of your stairs and overpasses. If your stairs/overpasses are splines, adjust one end manually, then get the height and apply it to the other end of the spline.

Virtually every station I use (except for light rail transit/tram stops) is scratch built and I believe most Trainz userz do the same.

I certainly did not know this. Thank you more than I could ever say. (Flashbacks of "I can adjust a track to ANY height, but objects move in full feet increments! WHY Auran!!) I'm still a newbie, this shows me just how much. :o Sorry to distract the thread, just wanted to thank you.

Thanks. I managed to figure out how to adjust the spline height, which is exactly what I needed. Now I'm stuck on trying to figure out why my stations won't display their track numbers properly when I'm in surveyor. I'm using the AJS Invisible Stations and there are black squares floating above the tracks where I think the numbers are supposed to go, but they're not there. On closer inspection I find all the numbers bunched together floating somewhere off to the side.

re track numbers in invisible stations in 2010

t8dagr8: I'm glad I was able to help you learn something new. That is what this forum is for.

rajrajmarley: I am having the same problem with track numbers not working correctly with AJS invisible stations in TS2010, although they worked fine in TC1&2 and TRS2006. My workaround is to set the platform numbers to be hidden in driver (in global options), and also to use object: "platform number (post)" and click on it with the "?" and enter the track number and then move the sign post next to that numbered track near the station entrance so I can see which number each track is.

This may be an example of content that needs to be fixed for newer versions of Trainz? Anyone have another solution?

You Can also use the ctrl key for .1 adjustments
