Starting over

I have been away from Trainz now for several years and have lost all my previous stuff. I am running The Ultimate Collection of Trainz, version 1.5 and build 327. I just tried to download a locomotive and I was told I needed "download helper".Where do I get it? First, do I need to upgrade to a later build or a newer version? Second, I remember having to download several small utilities that helped run the program better and organized things, can anyone tell me what I should have and most importantly, where I need to go to get them?

My needs are simple: I just want to download some steam engines and run them on layouts that are already created by someone else and be able to download various other things like buildings and moving vehicles.

If anyone can help I would be very appreciative. Thank You!

You don't need to upgrade to a more modern version but you might wish to. Before deciding, take a good look round this forum to see which of the modern versions you would prefer. You will see lots of conflicting advice but with a bit of reading between the lines you will quickly sense which of that advice is factual and which is fanciful or fictional. You might also want to check some prices from physical and online shops.

For specific help with using UTC it would be best to check out the "Ultimate" section in "Maintenance of Way - Support".

John, thanks for your comments. I'm going to abandon UTC, it's too old. I have Trainz2004, so I guess I will try working with that as some people think it's more reliable.
