Splines with White Lines

Some splines show up as a flickering white line when being moved in Surveyor. It's horrible. They take ages to refresh and it makes them really difficult to work with. It seems there are more like that these days.

Why do they do this, and can they be changed to the regular mode of editing, where the mesh is visible all the time?

I thought the big deal about Trainz as opposed to other sims was the ease of use of Surveyor.

Thanks,
Mick Berg.

More info please Mick - which version of Trainz; which splines in particular; computer specs especially Vid card and Operating system...

I know it doesn't help, but one of the big deals about Trainz is the ease of use of Surveyor...

I've seen this happen with multitrack splines, but haven't found why yet.

I think the problem may not be graphics card/OS related myself, as I've seen it in TRS2006 previously, and TS2009.

In case you want to check, here's my specs (directly from my PC Information Application - beta version):

It’s possible that you have the Surveyor Menu>Surveyor Options>Performance Settings>Spline Editing slider set to Simple (which will show a white line rather than the "finished product"). If so, shifting it to Detailed should solve the problem.

Cheers

Sorry to say that was not the solution.

Thanks,
Mick.

I did a bit of research and it seems that splines that appear with a white line when being moved in Surveyor, will not join reliably to those that remain fully visible while moving. What makes them have the white line or not I cannot establish. It certainly doesn't depend on what build number they have, or whether or not they are built using the 2.9 LOD-tree style of config.

If the spline is of kind "bridge" and has an attached track, it will have the white line appearance.

I have also found that in the route that I imported from TS2010 into TS2012, things were OK, that is different kinds of tracks and tunnels were properly joined, until I split the spline. After that they would not rejoin. Most frustrating!

It's all very mysterious and too complex for me to figure out.

Mick Berg.

I had a feeling that Trainz gives the white lines when it knows there is a spline to be drawn, but can't display the track due to errors. So, are the dependencies of these splines all free of faults and warnings?
