SpeedTreez movement in SP2?

With SP2 installed I can see no movement in the speedtreez, the wind slider in Surveyor's Enviromental adjustments doesn't make any change in wind strength! John.

Soooo sloooow

Watch carefully, they move the same way as before but in a desperating slow motion.
Nice try, but that was not the solution. Next patch maybe.

Hi,

Sorry to disagree, but the slider works for me.

I notice there is quite a delay for the change in effect, so maybe again patience is the criteria.:)

Cheers, John

They do move but it's that slow even with wind at max there's not much point in them being animated.

Yes, there is very slight movement with slider over to the right, but this is what you would expect with wind almost turned off! Hope this is rectified soon, John.

So... they have gone from one extreme to the other? I think that I will stick to my Alpha trees.

I'd rather have no wind just like in the older versions of Trainz. The whirlwind we had originally made me feel very nervous.

I can not see any movement at all!! John.

Just to be clear is this in Surveyor, Driver, or both?

Two changes were made to SpeedTree for TS2010 SP2, the addition of the wind strength slider and a change to SpeedTree's 'time' value. Both of these affect the wind.

Wind strength slider
The wind strength slider added to the environment dialog in Surveyor controls the strength of the wind animation for SpeedTree. In previous versions of TS2010 wind strength was set at the current maximum. In the current version even at the minimum there will still be wind animation, i.e. the wind cannot be 'turned off'.

SpeedTree world time
An update was also made to combine the game time between SpeedTree and the rest of Trainz. This was to fix the fact that previously, the SpeedTree animation didn't stop when the game was paused. This is the more likely cause as while you are in Surveyor time should not be passing. If the game time stays stationary the wind animation will slow, and possibly even stop.

For further clarity, altering the weather slider will have no effect on the SpeedTree animation.

a tree in a calm condition and one in a storm do have different movement. globally setting a slider for initial desired condition must surely change when weather is likely to change during a session.

Hi,

It now appears (on my set-up anyway) that the speed of the trees is not affected by the slider, unless I click alter session on the drop down menu.

Sounds stupid I know, but then (without making any alterations) once I click out of the menu the trees work.

Hope you undrstand that better than i can explain it:)

Cheers, John

..... in Surveyor time should not be passing.....

Terry,

I does in my version (41615), when in surveyor the clock ticks on - you don't notice it until it starts to get dark (after a few hours). Resetting time in the "Environment" menu sorts it out.

(Sorry for the off topic).

I had been checking the animation in Surveyor, having since checked in Driver I find the trees work fine as long as time is ticking away!! Great work Auran, sorry for the doubts! John.
