SpeedFan - Reliable?

From reading earlier threads here I decided to install SpeedFan.

I am seeing readings: fan1 1197-12xx rpm temp1 24C, fan2 2328-2360 rpm temp 30C
AND fan3 0 rpm temp 127C!!.

I opened case and have 3 fans working : graphics card, one near PSU and the other over the CPU.

Lots of muck cleaned but what I do not understand is that all three fans are running but fan 3 - whatever that is isn't showing any reading.

Comp. is,and must have been, happily running prior to SpeedFan installation.

Is SpeedFan reliable I wonder?

You'll find that speedfan will report speeds & temperatures for as many fans/drives/things as it can find.

Sometimes it looks at a sensor and assumes that the device is a) present and b) the value it receives is correct.

My installreports 3 fans - that's correct, but it doesn't actually monitor the motherboard one....
it also reports some temperatures that never change (from 0C).

Remember that speedfan was written generically - not specially for your motherboard.

Another problem is that SpeedFan is no longer updated if I recall correctly.. it may simply not support the mainboard you use.

Thanks omber. I noticed an option to forward analysis to the creator which I have done. Will wait and see...
