Speed Treez is a improvement ?

Hi all. I had drived the route "Niddertalbahn", session "Stockheim Bad Vilbel", in TS2010. With Windows XP Pro 32 bit I see pretty trees with autumn foliage. But with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit the same trees look heinous. Why is that so ?
One of the recommended features for TS2010 is the use of Windows 7-64 bit. And my computer covers the requirements : AMD Phenom X4; 4Gb RAM; GeForce 9800GT 1Gb.
So, does not Speed Treez work well with 64 bit or have I something wrong in my computer ?
The name of those trees are as follows :
- Tree SugarMaple 06 & 02.
- Tree Elm 04 & 09.
I create an elementary route for a test with these trees and again appear heinous in Windows 7-64 bit. Somebody knows why ? or what is going wrong ?

PD : Either DirectX or OpenGL give same results

Seem to be OK here with a GeForce GT 240 in Win 7.
Both copies patched to the same level?
May need a driver update in Win7 latest is 197.45

Hi clam1952. Thank you for your answer.

I don't know what do you mean with "patched to the same level". Can you explain a little more ? :)

My driver is already updated with the lastest 197.45 version.

Cheerio.

If think what he means is if TS2010 patched fully. Right now, Service Pack 2 is the most current. For me and a lot of folks, I think SP2 hurt a lot more than it helped, but it's something you can try. (Back up all of your content first!)

FYI, the trees look fine on my XP machine too.

If you can't resolve this problem, consider setting up your machine as a dual-boot.

Hi.Thanks for the reply RRSignal.
I'll tell you that my TS2010 is updated with the SP2 and my machine has already a dual boot setting up.The sliders in the Menu Options are at max unless "Train Detail" (Normal); and the AF I had set at minimum.
In your machine that trees look fine in XP like in mine, but what about Win7-64 bit ?

I don't run Win7 so I don't know. But I've run TS2010 on two copies of XP and it looks great, albeit using the same old card (nVidia 8400GS) and old drivers. I imagine that there could be compatibility differences with the newer drivers. Both nVidia and ATI seem to have had driver issues as of late.

I wonder, though...Win7 has an XP compatibility mode. Have you tried running Trainz in that?

I’ve had TS2010 with SP2 running on Windows 7 64, XP/SP2 64-bit, XP/SP3 and now Vista/SP2 64 all with the 196.34, 197.13, 197.25 and the latest 197.45 Nvidia drivers with a GTX 285 and a 8800 Ultra.
I haven’t had any problems with the way the trees look with any of the mentioned operating systems.

Hi RRSignal.
You are right, the reason for appearing so the trees was the season of the year in that region. I tested the route Port Ogden (Australia) with that trees, and are pretty green.
Thank you very much RRSignal your help was useful.

Hi djt. Thanks for you reply.
Although the reason of this issue was the season in that region, I have a question : why looks different in XP 32 bit ? Is there something wrong ?

Regards.

They shouldn’t look any different in XP then they do in Windows 7 or Vista as long as the video card drivers were install properly to begin with.

You did set TS2010 for the native resolution of your monitor right?

I have a CRT 19" and the resolution in XP-32 is 1024x768, and in Win7-64 is 1280x1024 (the recomended).

Could be that the AMD Phenom 2.3 Ghz isn't fast enough ?

I think Trainz initially takes the date from the PC, Possibly you had set the XP one up earlier and forgotten? or the date is out or was out on one of them.

It’s got nothing to do with the CPU.

Whatever the native resolution is of your monitor is what should be set in TS2010’s option menu.

I run TS2010 in 1280x1024 on XP and am very happy with that resolution, and I run a minimal-spec system.

Hi all.
I made a test editing the environment in a new route with these trees. I change one month forward and backward today's date and saw a curious reaction : the pretty autumn leafs never came back!
It looks like a "start state" of XP-32 bit accordingly with today's date. But I can't understand why don't come back.
Well, I think is no more to say about this and we can close this thread.
Thanks for all your replies.

Regards.
John.
