SP2 Has Removed Visible Track Straightening

Vern

Trainz Maverick
When clicking on a section of track with the straighten tool, building pointwork, it is now virtually impossible to discern whether the section has been made crooked or straight. In previous versions it was obvious there was a kink or dogleg. This has made Surveyor difficult if not impossible to use particularly in the area of complex junctions.

I'm not so sure about that, Vern.

I was route building last night and had no issues straightening some freshly laid track including some point work. In some cases, the straightening made some really "kinky" track. I have noticed, however, that the track doesn't straighten much if it's attached to a fixed-track object.

That could be the issue then John. Regardless, for me at least it makes it difficult if not impossible to do the pointwork so I have gone back to TANE, at least to actually lay the track.

You cannot lay double slips and maintain the 6ft way either.

Which is prototypically essential in UK routes.

Plus why does TRS19 default edition contain some TRS19 procedural Jarrah track seasonal.

That is not included in Trainz Plus.

Which is supposed to be the dogs boll**ks edition. For which i pay a Gold membership to use.

After installing SP2, rebuilding the database and downloading all the asset updates etc. I still found I had sections of track missing on my own route and could neither replace the missing track or place any form of rolling stock on the track adjacent to it. After much fiddling I found 'deleting missing assets' resulted in the majority of missing track again becoming visible and the ability to again add rolling stock. A few days on I'm still finding little things not working, probably a combination of SP2 and the asset updates but nothing which has not been easily resolves, so far anyway. Peter

And while they managed to nerf the straighten track visual, they still haven't restored the point blade animation in Surveyor either...

Just wish TSW2 had a route editor! :)

The animation is there and so are lighted signals. You need to unpause Surveyor now in order to get the animation if you are using Platinum, Gold, or Plus at least. I'm not sure about the bog-standard anymore.

Peter,

Check that any built-in or DLC is marked modified in Content Manager and revert the assets to original. I had that issue and once I did that, everything appeared and now I have nothing missing.

I'm using the standard edition John, but why the hell would you need to pause and unpause the route building utility. Beats me. Anyway, I'll either be over in TANE, or the MSTS/TSRE TS20xx naughty corner.

The track straightening tools is working just fine in my PE SP2.

For Platinum and Plus editions, which have the UDS interface, the pause/unpause function in Surveyor is vital for when you are switching to and from Driver.
