Ha...I have a Nokia 1112 from 2004. Doesn't even have a colour screen and its best game is the best one to grace mobile devices - Snake Xenzia. Beat that! :D

My cell phone is from about 2002... Nokia6310i it say inside of it as a model... So Kieran, I guess I beat that. :hehe:

It is getting rather old, but, still work as a phone as it is just a phone... Good enough for me. :)

OK; I admit, I have a newer digital compact camera only a couple of years old, so I am not totally stuck in old days. :D

I still have a Nokia 2112 which was on the CDMA1x Network, such a shame Telstra closed it :( , I got reception everywhere I went 'except the city loop' lol.

I don't really buy into conspiracy theories, as much as a I loathe the UN. I'm not saying you're incorrect - really nothing the UN might try to pull would surprise me anymore - but I think the answer is far simpler and obvious: money. If there is a way for a company or government to make a penny, they will, regardless how it badly it affects their fellow man.

That said, I certainly wouldn't deny the technology has, to some extent, dumbed us down. A lot. But I doubt that the dumbing down was intentional. A computer, or, for that matter, the internet, etc. is merely a tool. Just like a screwdriver, hammer, gun, knife, fork, etc. And, as a tool, it can both benefit and harm people. Computers were always about making things faster, easier, less labor-intensive and more convenient. But that's really the "glass half full" way of putting it. The "glass half empty" crowd could just as accurately say that computers appeal to our laziness and cheapness, and as we more tightly integrate them into our everyday lives, there is less and less need for us to work harder to, for instance, look up information or to solve every-day critical-thinking problems.

I still use my Polaroid camera, and the other day I took my typewriter to school to note-take on and annoyed just about everyone. That lasted until Period 6 when the ink ran out and wouldn't mark the paper....anyone know where I can get a new ribbon?

Nobody is allowed to use their mobile devices at my school during lunch breaks. Nobody had a problem with me using my typewriter. It's only a mechanical device. Works better than the new Apple computers the school got installed. They should have kept the old PC's. They gave us no trouble. :(

I still think you win though. :)

As much as I certainly would have liked to John, I recently tried sifting through the doco database in both America and Europe. In the 16 year period since I first got wind of the article, it's likely to have been taken down, altered, watered-down. It's probably now serving a humanitarian need - fertilizer perhaps!

Getting back to your original statements that you are concerned with of that social network aggregator - Spokeo. My observation tells me it's a catch 22. Even though many of us are not associated with other networks the site suggests we've taken participation of. Spokeo has obviously linked our data to friends & families online accounts who have possibly registered to sites we are absolutely unaware of. I think everything is as it should be, so there's really no need to make any corrections ourselves.

Data collecting networks such as Spokeo, Twitter etc will generally put any of it's user's in a deceptive state of mind and we end up feeling guilty, blaming ourselves for something we thought we had done, when we didn't do anything lol. We as humans are not so bullet-proof after all. These so-called social networks will always toss the bait to draw information out of their customers/members alike who easily let their guard down. It's surely done in a stealthy manner, often in similar ways that a Nigerian scammer would operate to lure someone out of their hard earned fortune.

You make a valid point RR, much like yourself; I don't hold dearly to conspiracy theories either. I must admit that much of these theories are relatively dis-proven while yet some may hold little truth mixed with a ton of error depending on the sources of where they've gathered such information.

Other than that; I understand where you are coming from and would have to agree more or less.

Breaking News: Because of very recent political events, an organized cyber attack has been threatened by a certain group of hacker/attackers, who successfully hacked into at least 2 major internet corporations, and have made plans to further attack more particular major institutions. Please do not post and try to poke holes in this breaking news story ... as this is the wave of the future cyber attacks. Poking and prodding this breaking news story, with your own ideas, and own personal visions and viewpoints, may just give "THEM" more and more ideas on how to carry out more devious cyber attacks.

I posted this only because it is highly important, and is a major breaking news story, that all should be informed of.

Please ... Do Not Reply about this sensitive news event, on this Forum ... as loose lips ... sink ships ... don't give them any big bright ideas by posting your viewpoints.

In short, bc I have enough to deal with in life right now. My computer also decided to give me enough problems to where its frustrating the hell out of me when I try to run Trainz, especially the type I like to run which can top 4 locos and 200+ cars. I don't need my motherboard blowing up on me, thank you, and I'm on a tight budget so I can't really afford to replace a video card at a moments notice. Hope that's a good enough reply, and yes, I'm not in a good mood right now.
