Something is REALLY WRONG here!

I have 454 faulty items, all my non-built in stuff, and a few built-in things.
Three hours ago none of it was faulty.
And it all has the same error (except for the built-in stuff) -- "unable to link compiled script class".
WTFH does this mean, and how do I fix it?
I can't really use Trainz until this is fixed, because many of the built in things like portals are faulty too. :(

I have encountered the same thing, a database repair solved the problem.
But what had happened, I have not the faintest idea about, I had not installed any new stuff or done anything special as I can remember, all of a sudden I had a lot of items (most locomotives and train cars) that were faulty, with the same error as yours "unable to link compiled script class".

But sometimes it happens strange things in Trainz I've noticed. ;) hehe.

Select a few assets at a time and view errors and warnings. They should disappear as the database is verified again.

Select them all at once and validate. When that's done, note the number of errors. Then click on each faulty asset individually to refresh its status until the database catches up.

Gah, I gave up and deleted everything, but new things I download either have that error or "TAD CompileAsset Unable to start script system" or something like that, so I don't know whats going on

Ok, and now everything on the DLS has a dash instead of "Available for download", and if I try to download something it completely disappears -- if this keeps up I might have to buy MSTS.

"TAD CompileAsset Unable to start script system" or something like that, so I don't know whats going on

It appears that your installation has been damaged; perhaps one of the files has been added, moved or overwritten. This is unlikely to have anything to do with any assets that you might have installed- it's more fundamental than that.

You can try exiting out of Trainz and making sure all the processes have closed off before reloading (or just reboot your computer, if you're not sure how to do that.) If the problem is just a temporary one in memory then that may help. Otherwise, you might be looking at a reinstall of Trainz.

kind regards,

Sorry to get here too late, but we found out that if you did a full EDR then do a QDR strait after the EDR it would clear the problem, don't ask me why that should work it just dose, but mine is the PC version not the IMac version, so I don't know if it would still work on yours.

Why didn't I suggest this sooner...?

Go to the userdata/cache/libraries folder and DELETE all its contents. This is the library cache. When Trainz opens an asset or script library, it stores a copy there for quick access next time. In some cases, patching to SP1 can corrupt this cache.
